Tony Noske Racing
Mark,
I know you will read this sooner or later. I, and the rest of us Im sure would like to hear your take on WPS and them leaving you high and dry (de ja vu) for '04 and what TNR's plans are now? Does anyone else have any insight into this? |

Well what do we know at the moment.. the AU is for sale in the motorsport press for $200k (incl GST) as raced and without spares.
So presumably there is a new car coming.... |

Just read the other thread pertaining to Tony Noske Racing. Wish I was an insider like you folks. All the initials, apart from TNR mean naught to me. For example, what's WPS stand for? And all the others?
Perhaps we need an index of definitions somewhere... :-) |

Was the BA not going to have come from the now defunct 00 Motorsport?

Interesting to read this post,
The news that WPS have left us high and dry is news to me, I have been away for 2 weeks camping and have yet to discuss anything with team management regarding 2004 plans. I was aware from discussions before I went camping that deals were looking positive for 2004, but as we all know in motor racing nothing is certain until signed off. I hope this rumor is untrue as it would be extremely dissapointed. Maybe I should just go drive trucks for a living instead and save myself from having broken promises every year. |

Why not put forth the arguement that a younger & experienced talent is a better proposition than an uncommitted part-time has been?

I have read and reread MHDT's post and can not see how that response would come about mickj?
Isn't he saying that Mark would be better off with the money? |

Mark is one of the most under rated drivers I have ever seen race....(original Ferrari 360 in Adelaide comes to mind, sitting in the chicane, hairs on the back of your neck would rise lap after lap as he picked the throttle up earlier and earlier....great stuff!)...Why is it seen as a poor driver skill to have a father that is willing to support their son? Most of you out there would remember he drove equally as well as Todd Kelly, Lowndes, Paul Morris when they all tested together for HRT.....
Give him say SBR engines in that 00 chassis, now where would he end up? that AU was nothing special, but some of his qualifying (a true indicator of pure speed, was well above par...) so where will the money come from? who knows..... lets hope Tony gets it! Ciao |

As much as I have been a great admirer of Charlie O'Brien's performances over the years in Group C, Formula Pacific and the like, I doubt he would be able to be on the pace of the current V8 Supercar competition.
His performances for Longhurst Racing at Bathurst in the late 90s were nothing to write home about. He has ability but lacked the raw speed to be competitive. And this was 5 years or so ago. |

But has anyone else besides GTR heard that Charlie is going to V8's?
GTR I am not saying you are wrong, just curious. |

Shannon O'Brien is Charlie's nephew... there was some chat that there may have been a 2 car Konica team, one for Shane Gore, the other for Shannon O'Brien in WPS colours on top of the main series program... but I dont think enough cars have changed hands...

Surely there are plenty of cars if enough cash is exchanged, something WPS & O'Brien are not short of.
Problem may be matching parts. Toll would be exorcising all their Ford gear (1 maybe 1 1/2 BAs & 2 AUs?) |

O'Brien already has two BA's from 00, didnt take the Green Eyed Monster with him, so would need 2x AU's...
Toll has one BA and one AU in stock, having flogged off one AU to Ant Evangelou... Unless there is some kind of synergy reached with Mark Howard's consortium of 4 cars, and there will be enough resources for all... |

I hope they get in some engineering talent this year. Marcus Marshall's car ran with Donald Kingdon's advice and setup, which is why it seemed substantially better than the Howard and GOrdon cars from the same stable

Was having a discussion with one of their twechnician yesterday, started with the team for the last few rounds, insiders believe the team can be very competitive this year if they can find the right drivers. Seems that budget may not be a problem as their drives are reasonable priced
