Stolen - Sunbeam Alpine Le Mans
Keith Hampson has just contacted FISCAR to advise that his lovely Sunbeam Alpine Le Mans has been stolen from a secured barn overnight. Please PM me if you hear of any information that might help lead us to its safe recovery.

Is that the one that we raced alongside at LeMans, the replica of 3001 RW ?

That is a super well known car, surely once they realise they will just park it up and leave it. Where was it John, and how was it stolen ?

Seen and shared this on Facebook - hopefully the wide publicity will help its early recovery, as happened with the stolen Rally car recently.

I often wonder what the motive is when stealing a car like this ?

stupidity?
I shared the FB link yesterday, word spreads quickly on there. I recently say a guy reunited with his Lambretta TV175 he bought new in 1961 . . . . once the tealeaves realised how far word spread and 5000 scooterists were after them, they discretely gave it back, albeit stripped blasted and primed in little over 24 hours! |

Back in the 70s a mate of mine had his Transit tow truck nicked and never expected to see it again, however it was recovered and to his amazement it had a brand new engine fitted in it !

The below paragraph is the text of a Tweet from Atherstone and Coleshill Cops (Warwickshire Police) in the last hour together with photo of car with police car behind, appears to imply it's been recovered:
Stolen #Sunbeam #Alpine recovered from #Atherstone. If you saw this car in last 24hrs call 101 - inc 165-16/05. CB |

Delighted to confirm car has been recovered and is secure. Full assessment not possible yet, but it appears to be intact and has been restarted Ok.

Yes, fantastic news. Once the police have done their forensic stuff, car will be released back to Keith and it will hopefully be ready to race at Donington next weekend. Will 'unstick' this thread now.

Well done all concerned. Having your pride and joy nicked must be a nightmare most of us have had...
Have to echo Gordon's question, though. Why? |

Used as transport for the £50 of tools and other bits also stolen. Clearly had no idea of what it really was.

Good to hear - but it would be even better if the thieves were caught......
