GM! should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Rallycross Superprix at Knockhill is ON!

For those eagerly awaiting confirmation, I’m pleased to announce that the 2010 Rallycross Superprix scheduled for Sunday 24th October at Knockhill is most definitely on.

A lot of thought has gone into ensuring that this popular event is as big a success as it has been in previous years. This year’s Superprix is being run as a one day meeting, thus keeping overnight accommodation and entry costs to a minimum and giving competitors ample time to drive to the circuit on the Saturday instead of having to take the Friday off work. The suggestion for a venue in a more central location in England was taken into consideration but did not prove possible this year. All credit to the Knockhill circuit – they were fully supportive and kept the date available until all the details had been finalised.

With support from Fuchs Lubricants and Arnold Clark, this year’s Superprix sees a big input from Fiat, who will also be displaying a number of Abarth models.

All the usual rallycross classes are catered for, plus Minicross, Juniors, Suzuki and RX150. There is also a category for Rally cars.

2009 Superprix title holder Kevin Proctor has already stated he intends to retain the title but Andy Scott thinks otherwise and would dearly love to make it a home victory. Mad Mark’s Xsara will be fit again and Tony Bardy is bringing the rapid Astra that saw him record a terrific eighth fastest in the third heats in Poland last weekend. In fact, could Bardy have his best Superprix ever and see his cars sweep the board and claim the top four places or will GB1 decide to go for the one title he hasn’t won yet? The invite is on its way!

See www.rallycrosssuperprix.co.uk for more details and to download an entry form if required. The site is currently being updated and an entry list will be added closer to the event. You can also contact me, as competition secretary for the meeting, if anyone has any queries.

A lot of hard work has gone into making the 2010 Superprix happen. The Knockhill circuit is in fine shape, ready and waiting, so lets go rallycrossing!

Best track to drive in Britain, in my opinion. A few of us might be making the trip north of Edinburgh (it's nice how I managed to make the mammoth drive sound quite easy there) to stand on the bank in the rain/sun/both-at-once-in-the-way-only-Scottish-mountains-can-have. It'd be good if Pat went, although it's a bloody long way for him!

I'll be eagerly watching the entry list to see whether that trip's justified. Thanks for the update, GM!

Great circuit.
When it was first redeveloped in the mid2000's i took my minicross car there and managed to be the first person to Roll!
Still got a live radio interview because of it!

Well let's hope people come out to support it. Although the Open Series ended on a duff note the Superprix has been an outstanding end of season highlight for the last few years. Let's not lose it.

If it struggles through this year (even with a reduced entry) things might improve next with a move to another track. However if it fails completely this year I suspect it might lose momentum and that might be it...

Really hope this is well supported as it's usually a great event. It's what got me back into rallycross so I don't want to see it go.

Any particular reason Mark, if you don't mind me asking?

"In fact, could Bardy have his best Superprix ever and see his cars sweep the board and claim the top four places or will GB1 decide to go for the one title he hasn’t won yet? The invite is on its way!"

Didn't Pat win it in about 2003? Or am I getting very confused?

I thought Pat won it in his Escort - not sure if that was the superprix or a similar event with a different name?

Pat did, but wasn't it the last Rallycross Grand Prix rather than the Superprix?

The Rallycross SuperPrix started in 2005 and was won by Chris Evans, who then won it again 2008. Kenny Hansen won in 2006 and 2007 whilst Kevin Proctor took the title last year.

Thanks for the positive comments received so far. I know the weather has a mind of its own at Knockhill but I was thinking back to when Rallycross started - it was mainly a winter sport then and took place in pretty grotty weather but it didn't put people off. Are we (including me) getting soft?

And a bit of German nit-picking, Bill:

Tony Proctor, but Kevin Procter…

Perhaps a little early to ask, but will this years Superprix be getting a DVD as the previous years have? (For those of us who can't make it! )

Yes, arrangements are being made for TV to record the event, so a DVD will be available.

Afraid pat won't be there, and yes Pat won the Rallycross Grandprix not super prix.
Pat will be competing in the British Rallycross GP next year.

Ok, as requested I've split out the "next years GP" stuff into a new thread here:

http://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=124960

Can we keep this thread for Knockhill Superprix stuff now please

from GM`s "Super Torque" dated 8th oct

"It’s been all quiet on the Mad Mark Watson front since the Barnard Castle and multiple Rallycross Championship winner announced that his Citroen Xsara was up for sale. Mad Mark has been looking at a number of different cars this year but is being tight lipped about his plans. It is generally expected, however, that he will be seen in action at least one more time with the Xsara at Knockhill."
