As this is my first time applying for this meeting not sure of the system, do we get a yes or no, or just a yes and if you don't hear your not going?

Ignore Stephen, he should know better.
My understanding is that a no letter is sent and it should not be long now. If you are accepted then full details about 2 or 3 weeks before the event. If you get in you will love every minute |

Goodwood Festival Of Speed and Revival are both heavily oversubscribed every year so the chief marshals for both events have to unfortunately pick marshals for the event therefore some applications will be rejected. I would think that to simplify that process they only accept applications up to a certain date. Rejections are sent about about 4-6weeks before the event (ie now) so I would expect applications close before then.
You can apply via the BARC.net website for next year's Revival sometime early in the new year but this year's Revival will have been removed off the site before now, as explained above. |

For next year apply as soon as the paperwork comes next year ideally all 3 days, then you get quite a healthy chance of getting picked.
That's about as much as you can do, unless certain people in the know will tell you, because it is one of only 3 (to my knowledge) selection based events in country you will get told to do allsorts of tricks and ways to boost your chances like applying for FOS in the same year, do quite a few events with BARC, do events at Goodwood circuit itself (the very small number of them!) Some of which may work/not.... |

To be honest I don't think the BARC look at whether you marshal Goodwood circuit etc, being a member of the BARC might be an advantage but not essential in my opinion. Certainly those who apply for all three days stand a better chance as with volunteering for the Grand Prix.

Got my Thanks but no thanks today, so unfortunately there won't be any outlandish costumes for Saturday & Sunday's sign on - shame that, as I was proud of one and had nearly finished designing the second.
Right, off to buy some tickets ! |

For those not going I am sure that there are other events who would appreciate your help that weekend.

For those in the South-east, there is a two day MSVR meeting at Brands Hatch. I am sure Mildred would welcome your assistance (marshal.southeast@brscc.co.uk)

I would like to go, and hoping that I can get a couple of spare tickets for me and another marshal. Thats the begging letter over, beers and things will naturally follow.

Goodwood Revival
As I have not (yet!) received a thanks but no thanks I'm starting to assume I'm going this year. As the planning begins can anyone comment on the availability, price and quality of breakfast at Goodwood??? Should I plan to make my own or is the catering reasonably priced and ok quality??

There's been a free range organic bacon baguette bar close to sign on - reasonably priced - what do you think?
Goodwoods quality can be high, (although some of the coffee is still a teaspoon of powdered Nescafe + boiling water) the prices reflect this. |

It is alleged that there is kick back on all products sold, a couple of years ago one coffee stall was selling 30p too cheap and had a visit from the "suits" and the price was increased by 10.00

Depends on what you call a reasonable price. My local greasy spoon sells me a bacon sarnie for £1.20 after I get my emergency services discount.
