Todays General Practice @ Mallory
I ventured down the road this morning expecting to see a load of MX5's (it's their 1st race of the season on Sunday) & a few odds & sods, so was seriously surprised to see the paddock teeming. There were loads of BMW 3 series, a new shape Beetle, a Golf, a Caterham, 2 Firenza's, an old Elan, 2 pick ups, a C Type, a pre war Bugatti, half a dozen Ferrari's (I could recognise a P3, a P4 & a Dino, not the other 3), Peter Felix's MGZR, an Aston Martin DB4, Rae Davis's tiny A35 & a shed load of Mazdas.
The single seaters were not so numerous, but when was the last time you saw 7 F1 cars in the Mallory paddock? We had a Tyrell, an Ensign, a BRM, a Cooper, a Wolf & 2 Mclarens, they were joined in their 3 sessions, by assorted Formula Fords (including Peter Daly, out in his 2 new toys) they were joined by a Jedi, a F.Renault and a Dallara F3 6 sessions in the morning with just a couple of pull offs, which meant J.P & Doug on the Wrecker felt unwanted. The weather Gods are obviously 4 wheel fans, because the afternoon bike sessions were run in torrential rain, and after only 9 minutes of her session a lady came off in Edwina's and was taken by Ambulance to the Leicester Royal Infirmary, hopefully she's ok, the day came to an early end when none of the sidecars wanted to go out for the last session of the day. Beats going to work, doesn't it? |
