OSTKURVE should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
A.Wurz

It seems as though Alexander Wurz has been confirmed to partner Nico Rosberg @ Williams. What made Wurz relinquish his role as a test pilot? I seem to remember a few seasons ago he was offered a seat which he declined & opted to stay @ Mclaren as a test pilot.

I'm surprised that Sir Frank would opt to employ Alexander Wurz instead of choosing to give the available seat to a "young lion" like Rosberg. Wurz has been in F1 for quite sometime since his depature from the DTM.

@ any rate I think Wurz is a talented pilot who may have had a chance to hone his skills as a test pilot @ Mclaren,I am actually happy that he was able to get seat & we'll see him on the grid in '07. Hopefully Sir Frank's outfit will supply him with a competitive car & perhaps will see Herr Wurz on the podium this season.

On my keyboard I have to press two keys to get an "@", the same as typing "at"!

Wurz was one of two main test drivers at McLaren and Paffett was coming. At Williams he was the principle test driver and now a seat is available he got the race drive. It was a decent move.

Williams would probably like someone with more experience partnering Rosberg than another young driver. Wurz has probably impressed them irrespective of this too.

Its actually been confirmed for a while, but i think any sane driver if given the chance wouldve made the move up.

He's spent this season doing development work with Williams, so he's learnt the team pretty well. I think the sad fact with the team choosing him to fill the seat is that it has been driven by budget. Nico and Alex will be fairly cheap by F1 standards which leaves money for things related to the car, which the way Williams operate is perhaps better spent in their eyes.

I read this in Autosport about 3 months ago! It's been the case for quite a while now!

Children, please!

Yeah, this has been confirmed about three months back.

Wurz moved to Williams with this race seat in his mind. It was said when he moved to Williams he was guaranteed a race seat and that made him move from McLaren. Seems to be the case!

The drives he turned down at McLaren were for less competitive teams, reportedly.

IMHO, Wurz was only guaranteed a race seat if both "current" drivers weren't retained. As Williams let his contract lapse, and Webber ultimately went elsewhere, Wurz got what he was after - having said that it would appear he impressed hugely with his testing and feedback abilities anyhow.

Nothing wrong there, the currently state of things at Williams suggest it was a reasonable choice from both sides.

maltafan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I think it last year, was quite clear that Wurz would be given a seat at Williams in 2007, at least that is what Frank's speeches predicted.
