The coveted Pug engine bay pic

Wondering if anybody was able to snap the coveted Peugeot engine bay pic last weekend at LM.
It even has a small bounty on its head over at mulsannescorner.com!

rcarr has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
What is so special about it?

There was a great shot on Motors TV when the number 7 car retired!

Maybe you can do a screen grab from youtube?

What's so special is that Peugeot PR staff have gone to great lengths in getting in the way of photographers attempting to get that image. Such that while by now I suspect someone has it, considering the car has been to multiple events, it has taken too long for it to emerge.

Whatever, the crews made sure that nobody could see what was under the covers when they made their stops. Something that I feel the organisers should rap them over the knuckles for, if not, kick them out!

It smacks of something "bent" on the car. If they have nothing to hide, then why try to hide it.

Or does it say "Renault" or "Ford TDCi" on the cam covers, and they're too embarrassed to show the world that the can't make their own engines (or their own engine staff were on strike, so they bought one in!)

Funny story from the test day. One of the IMSA tech guys was there and was shocked to see that when the engine cover was pulled off the Pug, there was already a blanket covering the whole engine bay. The tech people had to peek under the blanket to check their needed items...

Sounds like they're paranoid about something- how much different is pug to audi? And surely the ACO have seen it to check it's legal? Or at least french car at le mans legal, which is a slightly more liberal rule book

As I pointed out in here you can find a picture of the engine bay on lemans.org. With Club Arnage access you can get a bigger version of the picture.

Hehehehehehehe You mispelled Chevy block.

Nowadays, people "hide" stuff to have other people think "it must be good". Most of the times those people are deceived. This might be one of those times.

Besides, people tend to be more interested in the "no.1" car/engine than in the "no.2" car/engine. If you are going to copy, copy the best, not the rest.

It doesn't really matter if it's good or not. My comment above was very tongue in cheek. The greatest thing it will do is put Audi's diesel and existing petrol engines in perspective. It's very naive to think that a photo will teach us nothing. It will give us knowledge, and knowledge is power!

My father has told me this story many times.
But: a man, possibly called Jim (though i could be wrong) was a very good technical artist, and did cutaways for a living. One day, he happened upon a Honda mid sixties GP car (when it was still very new) stood next to it for a few moments, and went away and drew a meticulously detailed drawing of said car, and specifically its engine. The result? Honda men getting quite angry and asking him who'd been talking.
Be the tone sepia or 20 mega pixel coloured, teams are paranoid about pictures and details. Any advantage...
