Having read the full article elsewhere today, Jarno Trulli has come out with others and bagged it. Why did the Herald Sun NOT print the whole article.

That suggestion was made with tongue firmly planted in cheek. But there is always one lame brain.

if Alonso could use it 5 times and Glock can use it 5 times it's not going to help Glock win is it?
should we say Footy teams can score 3 tries a game at the 20 meter line or gAFL players be allowed 5 behinds to count as goals per game or let cricketer's do 10 half runs per innings and have them counted as 1 whole run???? for mine it goes against what racing is about, every lap should be the same if your not good enough to win then bad luck. |

2nd'd. Must be some goooood drugs going around the F1 paddock atm to even think its a good idea.
It wouldn't make me stop watching V8s if it was to come in, but i'm in no way for it. Its almost as stupid as the sprint tyre crap. |

They run something similar in the European Rallycross Championship called the "joker" lap.
It adds something brilliant to the rallycross races but I really don't see the point of it in V8, F1 etc etc |

yesh, cool. put one in across the back of the campgounds at bathurst. once they put the new sections in down the bottom this would work a treat!
better still, how about have 2 different parts of the circuit to go around, but the same length?? a bit like a chose your own adventure book. what about a figure 8 with a jump over it too. perhaps a couple of water jumps like a steeple chase? im sure TC would go for it as it adds to the "entertainment" |

You can go to Parramatta City Raceway to watch the figure 8 demolition derby still, can't you ?
I'm sure that's where S.Richards learnt his craft. |

Patrick Head actually suggested this scenario many years ago in an interview with F1 Racing.
Because isn't one of the attractions of motorsport a pair or more of drivers battling for position?? It can hardly be exciting motor racing if someone just drives up a 'cheat' road and overtakes with no effort at all. |

An odd concept indeed, one that I wouldn't like to see introduced, but then again it is Bernie Ecclestone.
If at heart he is proposing it to combat boring, processional racing, is it any different in thoery to KERS or "push-to-pass", or super soft tyres, or reverse grids? |
