Laguna Seca qualifying & race thread

Mexico have taken their first first A1 pole position, just ahead of France. New Zealand, Malaysia, Australia and GBR; poor showings from USA and Canada though. Full qualifying results here

It's Brian Herta driving for USA - and strangely off the pace. But then so were Carpentier and Fittipaldi. In comparison, Briscoe did a fine job as a newcomer for Australia.

Great effort from Salvador Duran, though.

I can't believe Herta is not closer to the front. This is pretty strange.

Im surprised at that as well , hopefully he can come good for the races

I also notice Max papis is listed as Italy's driver , he has track experience so should do OK.

More kudos for young Rahal he is looking pretty good

great stuff from Duran he has improved heaps since the start of the year.

and well done Ryan Briscoe a great effort I just hope he doesnt go backwards in the race

should be a great event , I just wish my cable provider was showing it Live

Just goes to show what a high level A1 is at when highly rated drivers with track knowledge qualify 17-19th.

One in the eye for those who were earlier criticising the series for lack of driver talent.

What are your opinions on the Verstappen incident? At first I thought it was quite unprofessional, especially parking a healthy car. Can see his point of view though.

If he realises that he is a danger to others driving around in a furious mood, then he is right to park it.

NZL has an equal right to complain considering Mexico passed them under yellow in the Sprint race, but Matt Halliday seems much less emotional (and he was still in the hunt for points)!

Technically, Mexico did not pass New Zealand under yellow. The safety car boards were out but the yellow flags were not so it was ruled a legal pass.
