Junqueira
If newman-haas decides to run 2 cars with Bourdais and Rahal, where does this leave Bruno, will it be the end of his champcar career or will a other team sign him up?.

Yes it does seem that Junky is gone from NHR.
Havent heard his name being mentioned anywhere else in CC though, however there is a 2nd Rusport seat going if he can bring some $$$. His name hasnt popped up in Grand Am or ALMS circles which is usually the case when an open wheeler career is over. |

Without meaning to be negative to open-wheel. but Grand-Am/ALMS are growing and need drivers. If Bruno does not wish to become a pay driver in CC/IRL than it would seem to be a good move to go to ALMS.
I don't hear anyone sniggering about an Allan MacNish piloting a sports car... |

Unfortunately I think you might be right, shame as it would be good to see Bruno in a front running car this year, as much as I like Katherine she hasnt done anything yet to earn a top seat in Champcar. IMO.

It would be a shame if Bruno was muscled out of ChampCar. If the worst comes to the worst, I think he would probably still follow the series and turn up to races with his helmet in hand, ready to substitute for anyone.
Maybe Haas would run a car in the IRL with Bruno, if they could find the sponsorship... I'd rather not see that though. He needs a new start I feel. A new team - hopefully in ChampCar - where he can re-establish himself. To be honest, despite finishing runner up in the championship and bagging a few wins, along with amazing consistency in 2003-04, I don't think Bruno ever really showed the same sparkle of speed with N/H as he did with Ganassi. |

That may well be the case for some drivers yes, but a lot of drivers make the switch purely because they realise they probably arent going to break into F1 and that they can make more money racing for a factory team in FIA GT/ALMS/LMS. I woudnt mind betting that if you looked at the entry list for Le Mans you could find a list of drivers who are of Champcar standard, if not a bit better.

We don't know if one's ability to bring money is a requirement for the 2nd RuSport seat. Obviously it wasn't last year.
Given how NH put up with years of mediocre Christian performances I don't think that was the motivation behind going with Rahal. #1 is pay the bills and NH freely admitted that they lost money in 2006. Then again nothing has been announced yet. We've seen how well veteran drivers can do on back marker teams (eg. Tag @ Rocketsports & TA - 2006 excluded, Servia DCR, CDM DCR). In 2007 the playing field should be more level with the new car and the rule limitations regarding car setups. I would not be surprised to see a more recovered Junquiera finishing strongly and consistantly for a DCR or Conquest type team. |
