USGP radio freqs

Last year many people told me that the teams' radios were
1. scrambled (ok...I think McMerc was encrypted)
2. on unavailable frequencies.

HOGWASH !

After scanning the freq range used by CART/IRL many teams were located. Williams, Jordan, Arrows, and BAR were all accessible and in English.

IF YOU ARE AT FRIDAYS PRACTICE PLEASE WRITE THE FREQS DOWN AND POST THEM HERE !

Lets pass the word for the good of all.

Thanks for the info. We searched last year for them. We did find the frequencies that the TV crews were using, which was quite entertaining when they were in between commercials or we were on the support frequencies they use.

I won't be able to help on the freqs though. I won't be anywhere near a computer while there.

F1 frequencies

http://www.bommeltje.nl/scanners/form1-2001.shtml --> check that for loads of team frequencies.

Hopefully people will be allowed to bring their scanners in.

I'm presuming I won't be able to hear them across the pond Or are they the same for each GP?

You'd have thought they would scramble them so other teams don't know what's going on- eg at Monza Williams could have found out if Ferrari would pit...

F1 frequencies in Indianapolis

160 - 170 MHz. (Biggest chance around 166 MHz.)
402 - 418 MHz.
440 - 443 MHz.
450 - 472 MHz.

These frequency ranges are in use at every Grand Prix.

Dutch Television uses the scanner audio during their reports and i've heard Arrows, Jordan, Jaguar, McLaren, Benetton and BAR on there...so for most teams you'll be able to listen.

If these are so easy to get hold of, how come Patrick Head says he's "surprised" when Ferrari pits?

Or ITV for that matter?

Well...maybe because the teams are focussing on their own drivers and Ferrari, Sauber and Prost aren't on those lists as far as I know.

So that will be the reason.

Don't think the team takes 20 extra guys with them just to listen out the other frequencies.
