Pirelli World Challenge Rounds 10 & 11: Lime Rock
Following the rather processional races at Mosport, the teams of Pirelli World Challenge roll in to the bullring of Lime Rock Park. If Lime Rock's GT racing history is anything to go by, this should be an interesting one.
The series will be running on the modified version of the circuit (The chicane layout) due to safety concerns about cars getting airborne in the uphill section. A bit disappointing with only one Maserati - driven by Mark Klenin - in the GTS class. Klenin drove a great race at Mosport though ...

I'll be there drinking beer and having fun with my friends...bringing 4 of them on Saturday.
Also, they're running the normal layout. Chicaneless is referred to as the "classic" layout. Last edited by Matt; 23 May 2016 at 20:59. |

68 cars are only entered for Lime Rock? What happened?

I'm hoping that PD Cunningham will let Ryan Eversley drive the #42 car this week in order to keep RE in the top 10 in points for the Championship. A couple of good results and he could leave LRP in 8th place. He's currently in 11th place.

Then some of those drivers in the Sprint Cup races were sporting Continental and IMSA patches on their driver suits. Hopefully PWC fined those guys for having competing sponsors at the event. In reality, that should have been taken care of in tech a few days before the race. |

Does anyone know if the two Wright GT3R Porsches are the two ex-Effort chassis?

Hugh Plumb will be driving the #12 ANSA Xbow for the Lime Rock rounds. Also, they've added a third car for Bill Ziegler. |

Yep, the #58 is the same chassis as the EFFORT #31. Wright has had the other car since COTA.

Parente and KPAX Racing led Practice. Qualifying in about a half an hour.

What a qualifying session! Parente and Palmer have matched times for pole! And the top 17 cars all set times within one second!

Fantastic day of racing.
GTS race #1 and TC race #1 were both loads of fun and then to finish out the day another caution free, action packed GT showdown! Super stoked for tomorrows races! |

Brilliant stuff. Another awesome win by Parente and KPAX.
Palmer vs Parente in the first 20 minutes was epic. And once Parente got the lead and drove away with it, Palmer/Long/Marcelli battle for second was equally intense and compelling racing. Fantastic racing throughout the field. |

enjoyed all three races yesterday, although I have to say, I enjoyed Aschenbach's leap to the front and invulnerability on the track not so much.
Sandberg & Aschenbach are quicker than the rest of the GTS field, it seems -- sadly they are not racing equally capable machinery. It feels a bit like P2 v DP in TUSC (yes back THEN!) to me. Long's tap was unfortunate (and unnecessary), not sure if really not premeditated; maybe they wouldn't have punished Long if he had only pushed Palmer wide instead of off-track ... anyways, fully agree with the stewards' decision. Racing is about not touching while riding the limit in my book. |

Aschenbach is just that much better than the rest of the GTS field this season. Major loss in talent, overall, from 2015 to 2016. That's not to say the grid isn't good, it's just very inexperienced compared to last season and Lawson has the advantage because of his skill and experience, not car.
Long's move was not intentional in any way, either. |

Agreed. Just a slight miscalculation by Long. I do think that the penalty was warranted though, based on the fact that the contact was avoidable.
Following the race, Pat Long posted this on Twitter. Quote:

(Not a criticism, just a joke)
Impeccable timing from the stewards - just as the GTS race goes under FCY the Ring 24 finally goes green! |

It's state law in CT that the local or state police are allowed to investigate any accident that results in a driver going to a hospital outside of the track's facilities, even if it's just for observation or a check up.
I don't wanna speculate, but just the fact that both drivers went to the trauma center at a hospital in Hartford means that their injuries are at least fairly serious or every precaution is being taken to get them the medical care that they need ASAP. |
