9 I think because he was unfit due to chest problems ?
10 Would this be because he was in an F2 car ? 11 Djion ? 12 Pass 13 Would this be Lotus ? Probably all wrong, but at least I had a guess !!! Simon |

9. Mike Hawthorn's complaint was actually a failing kidney. It's been suggested that if he hadn't died in a road accident, the kidney trouble would probably have shortened his natural life considerably.

Seems incredible that Hawthorn, with only 1 good kidney, drank so much, he and Peter Collins (the future Lotus boss he was teamed with) used to have shot-drinking contests dduring practice sessions (imagine what Frank Williams would say about that)

There were two Peter Collins' in F1. One was killed in the 1958 German Grand Prix.
The other wasn't an F1 driver and went on to become boss of Lotus. |

Question 9, Tim you are spot on.
Question 11, paulzinho you are correct. No one has got Q10 or Q13 right yet, and Paul got the right year for Q12, but not the right circuit. A couple more for you- 14. On which circuit did Stirling Moss's career come to an end? 15. Where did Gilles Villeneuve and Rene Arnoux famously race wheel to wheel for second place in the French Gp? |
