Les should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
We are hoping to go and watch the testing at Silverstone on 21st March and Brands on the 28th March.

Are members of the public allowed in and can you get in the paddock?

I will try and find out, Les. I did watch testing at Silverstone in 1998 but I was invited by one of the mechanics. I can't remember seeing any visitors then but Touring Cars are in different hands now.

Silverstone should be the same resticted access as for F1 (or any other) testing - i.e. Luffield only. Brands will be open to the public but the pit lane/paddock will be press access only (28th is media preview day).

Les, I am going to book 21st March off work on the assumption that we can get in. It'll be nice to get a little sneak preview of the cars before the 16th April. I am not 100% sure that we can get in but I am sure that Redshoes will prove me wrong

Rik, haven't heard anything yet. Last year they e-mailed details 3 or 4 weeks before. I expect we'll hear something soon.

Well I'm not booking any time off yet until I know a bit more - well at least for Silverstone.
We will def. go to Brands (being nice and close) as it is media day and those drivers whose cars aren't ready yet (such as Lexus) should be there anyway.
If we are turned away then there is always Bluewater and Lakeside shopping centres........

Did you expect me to be anything else, Redshoes?

Just had confirmation from Silverstone that we will be able to see Touring Cars there but same rule that applies for F1 testing - viewing at Luffield only and no access to the paddocks.

I am definitely going to Silverstone on 21st March then. Anyone else up for it?

Didn't I say that already, or don't you trust me.

Not sure about going to Silverstone as I don't think ypu'll see much. Still, I've got some holiday to use up by end of March so might go after all.

Oulton is a week or so later, anyone know what access is like there ?

You did, Redshoes, but you did start off saying "should be" so just confirming you are right, once again.

Do you mean you don't know about Oulton Park?
Have you got an exact date as I don't have any of the Touring Car test days, and are there any more?

I will try to but a bit difficult at work.

Thanks for the dates, Redshoes. I like testing days - no entrance fee

One other questions, Redshoes. Is it just BTC, or are BTP going to be testing as well?

We haven't found out if there are any restrictions at Oulton Park yet so we are unsure at this stage.

Probably best to leave it until closer to the time then give the office a call.

Lorna, in answer to your earlier question it's an official test day so everyone should be there - BTC-T and BTC-P.

Kev phone Brands Hatch today and there is no problem with Joe Public going to media day. Obviously no entrance to the paddock or pits but at least you can see the pits.
The one thing he forgot to ask was 'what time does it start'

The furthest north they are going is Oulton Park. The dates above are all the information we have. Sorry, Touringlegend, looks like you will have to wait for the race weekends or do some travelling.

Living centrally does have it's advantages - none of those tracks are more than a 2 hour drive for me (depending on what speed I am doing at the time )

You could try Knockhill on July 20th - Clios and Lotus testing but only in the afternoon.
