F1 on TV in the U.S. ?
I apologize if this question has been addressed already but obviously I need an answer. What channel is airing the F1 season in the US? Has it been decided yet or is it still up in the air? Thanks.

Here is a snippet from the MotersportsTV web site. This was taken from an article by Mike McCarthy covering SpeedChannel’s (Speedvision's new name) racing coverage for the 2002 season. Mr. Liberatore, who is quoted, is the president of SpeedChannel.
“Formula One SpeedChannel confirmed that it has signed a one-year deal to broadcast Formula One races in the U.S. "Mr. Ecclestone, I don’t think does anything longer than one year, unfortunately. So the deal which we have a commitment to is one year," said Liberatore. Also, the SpeedChannel-F1 deal still allows for F1 broadcasts on an over-the-air network. "It does allow for some races to go to a broadcast partner, which he (Ecclestone) is working out on his end.” The question(s) then is...how many and what races would go to the "over-the-air" network ? The rumor I have read on another site is that 4 races (Brazil, Monaco, Canada, & the US Grand Prix) will be televised live by ABC (the “over-the-air network”). BUT…those 4 races will also be seen on SpeedChannel as a same-day-delay. |

Coach
Is the Speedchannel site the same as the old Speedvision site? I tried to look there for programming, and there is no information at all. Could you please post their new email address? Thanks |

Here's the site
http://www.speed-affiliates.com There's not much there yet. When I clicked to download the schedule they asked for a password, I just cancelled and it gave it to me anyway. Hope it helps! |

Thank you. It really helped. It's good to know for sure that we will have F1 broadcasts in the States this year.

My VCR has been in hibernation. Alas I must sweep off the dust and purchase new tapes. Let the madness begin. I think that ABC's commentators were horrible. Jason Priestly?? Wow. I did like the displays of the tach though. It proved that BMW was reving waaay higher than the others. Near 18k. Anyway, thank God for Speedvision/Speedchannel. Even though FOX will be overloading us with Nascar.
