1995 Bathurst Suzuki Cup Chase roll over
Glen Mason scored a home run (hitting it out of the ball park) with this crash during the Friday Qualifying session for the Suzuki Cup support race to the 1995 Tooheys 1000.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A37FclYty2M Amazing what you find on VCR tapes stored in boxes in the shed at home. I remember watching this unfold from the flag point opposite the Castrol Tower at the top of the mountain. They didn't stop the qualifying session despite having rescue & medical vehicles parked trackside in the chase during the driver extrication and vehicle recovery process. Would never happen these days. |

I have a small piece of the bumper from that car somewhere in a box in the garage!
1995 was my first Bathurst trip. I still remember the excitement of pulling up in the Chase camp ground and walking over the hill and seeing the cars in the session that is in progress right at this minute 15 years later. Thanks for the memories PVDA! |

He was so lucky during that crash that the car didn't land on him when he was hanging half out of the window, and that it buckled in on the passenger side, not the drivers side.

It was a great series for spectating...
Clarke came straight out of Go-Karts and smoked everyone. Very quick circuit racer before turning to the ovals. I have no doubt he would be racing at Bathurst this weekend if he had stayed on the road circuits. |

I presume you are talking about Adam Clarke, if so an awesome driver in anything, havent seen him in much circuit stuff only in a speedcar or sprintcar but a brilliant driver just the same.
