Best game for UK circuit simulation
Hello virtual racers,
I'm looking for opinions of good games the include as many UK circuits as possible. I've got toca 2 but Oulton seems quite a way off the real thing, and the brands hatch one is "ok". that considered there are a lot of UK circuits missing, Brands GP, Combe, Snet, Mallory, Donnington, Silverstone etc etc etc there doesn't really appear to be a game out there with good UK circuit support. any recommendations ? |

i still like the original TOCA touring cars for PSone.
and even toca touring cars 2 was good at circuits, nice bumps captured, and the sensation of really nailing the apex made such a difference in lap times. shame these should be updated with new graphics.... |

I've played alot of Toca2 in my time and what was a pain was the "edge" so to speak, you had no real feeling where it was, I remember at Oulton, in theory some of the corners could have been taken faster/slower, but the game would decide that your rear was going to come around...

GPL has virtually every British circuit worth having - but the reality Police ensure that they are as near to 1967 spec as they possibly can be. For instance, the Ten Tenths Friendly Racing League will be racing at Cadwell Park tonight......

I think also many of the british circuits were available for F1C though many of them were RD conversions so maybe best to stop now....

GPL has as Ayse says 50s and 60s versions of nearly every british circuit.
Aintree, Brands GP, Cadwell, Castle Combe, Croft, Crystal Palace, Dundrod, Lulsgate Airfield, Lydden Hill, Mallory Park (both oval and full versions), Oulton Park, Silverstone, Silverstone Club, Snetterton and Thruxton. There is also Rockingham, Brands Indy, Donnington National, Goodwood, Croft in more modern versions and a shortened version of the Isle of Man TT course (there is a 25km limit in GPL, however some clever soul has worked out how to get around this and the full 37.73 miler is now under construction). Those are all (except for Silverstone) third-party addons however. |

Not seen GPL yet, but always rated TTC 1 and 2 for track accurecy.
Will have to get GPL and have a look at it me thinks. |

Frankly, provided you're happy to cast your memory (real or otherwise ) back to 1967, you won't find anything more accurate. It simply doesn't exist. |

And I was born 10 years before. But GPL is still the greatest racing simulation of them all (and I've tried most of them). For a sim that is now 7 years old, that takes an awful lot of beating...... Get yourself over to "Sold Out" and try it - you won't regret it.

I dunno, I mean ToCA 2 was quite forgiving in comparison to ToCA 1.
In that, you didn't have analogue control (unless you whimped out and waited for the platinum version) and you literally had to tap the steering controls as gently and quickly as you could to get round corners. Oh so satisfying when you got it right though! |

Grand Prix Legends
This was made in 1998 so at first out of the box is unspectacular. However when all of the 3rd party addons are added. It is a racing dream. I love the Cadwell park circuit. |

Its pretty easy to add the 3rd party add-ons to GPL, you just need half a brain to follow the instructions in the various readme files.
Cadwell Park in a lower formula GPL car is SOOOOOO much fun ! |
