2021 Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen
Didn't see a thread; I thought an endurance race could do with its own.
No worldwide stream due to TV deal, so if you want to watch you know what to do. To kick things off, the #79 has blown a tire and then caught fire. FCY, oil on track. |

That'll depend on the damage to the internals. I'd have thought so, the fire was raging but brief.

Lexus in top 3 for now. But knowing their history by halfway at least 1 will be out and the other will be out of contention by last hour

BMW guys just bidding their time right now. Last hour they will go after Corvettes with the roar of thunder behind them......errrr....as quiet as their engines are probably now.

I haven't checked in for a while, but it does seem they're a little fcy happy when local yellows could be used if the local yellow was better observed by drivers

The #8's wretched day is over. Aubry bins it something fierce into T1. FCY.

I'm still amazed how the team (and IMSA) let the car back on track after it so clearly crabbed its way to the pits with a rear right wheel doing the shopping trolley impression. And then it "lost drive" after doing half a lap.

DPI and GTD traffic has allowed Edwards in the BMW to catch Garcia's Corvette, very tight on the last lap.

Very tight finish to a good race.
Tincknell takes victory overall, Garcia holds on in GTLM. |

Tincknell simply amazing in traffic. Especially that move around Duval and a GTD car on the last lap. Pla had a way faster car in the last 10 minutes, despite Tinknell evidently going flatout and then some.

It's not the six hours, but it's the two hour 40 minute race at Watkins this weekend. We just had qualifying with Acura sweeping the front row again.

It's gonna be a mess too, looks like even more rain all day and evening.
Interesting race to watch but terrible to camp and hard on the teams |

Is there another event at Watkins Glen on Saturday?
This race does not look that exciting at first look. GTLM to 3 cars now, and Weathertech team looks crippled somewhat. GTD is a sprint cup only. Surprised their grid is as large as it is. I'd sit them out if I was a full season runner, I agree with what Pfaff, Magnus, and Wright are doing. DPI does not have the #48 Caddy once more, and I don't give a rip about P2 and P3. The rain could give it some spice and I think it will. Mazda guys I imagine is the sentimental fans choice to win the championship at this point too. Seriously does Acura actually have a fan base? |

SCCA had already rented and paid for the track in their usual July Sprints time slot. MUCH harder to kick out the amateurs who don't have the available time to reschedule and modify their schedules as easily. Oh and are paying for the time. And then next weekend is full up with Masters GP and Enduro and the HSR event, and some wine tasting it seems.
I recommend going to a track or watching the trackside banners and flags. Most every make, team and combination has flags and fans around the track. Acura is not new to sportscar racing so why would they not have fans? Just in "modern" LMP/GT-now they have been running all of the years they were eligible in some series with a car. |

Typing this 10 minutes into the race. Incredible. Corvettes dominating 1-2. Dominating. Unbelievable!.....ok sarcasm.
GTD race looks to be good. Hope we get a new winner today. NOT cheering for Turner BMW or Miller Lambo thats for sure. Hard to believe Lexus has not won as much as they have. Always the early rabbit and then dropping off after the first stint. Honestly the pro drivers in Hawksworth and Veach are not getting the job done. I think Vas/Sul should replace them. |

You have got to be kidding me.
We spent the last 10 minutes looking at gentlemen drivers circulating in solitude, while the gap in overall lead battle was constantly 0.3-0.8 s. And then they switched to the battle only to switch away to a pitstop when the 1-2 went side-by-side!!! |

Cooper got out of the Porsche in a hurry. Pulling a Jon Bennett and Ed Brown move there. Hope it does not cost them an extra stop in the end. Banking on a saftey car for rain I bet.
