Scott Speed to Champ Car?
Looks very close that Bourdais has signed with Torro Rosso. Looks as though Scott Speed is headed to Champ Car, possibly taking SB's seat....? Scott said when he is done with F1 that Champ Car is where he'd like to go.

I think Scott would do great inChampcar. and if he'd take Bourdais' seat, you'll have an American in a very competitive car

Champ Car would probably be the likely place for him to go to. He will probably do well there coming from a higher series, he will probably have a good shot at the championship there, even in just his first year. Though I have heard rumors that Marco Andretti will be taking Bourdais seat.

NH should take Speed. He's a better driver than Marco. Marco's all over the place -- Speed runs pristine laps, lap after lap, like there's a computer chip in his head that locks into the apex of each corner every time. {well, almost every time} He's really the same as he drove in GP2 except he's a bit more aggresive now.

NHL (isnt that a hockey league?) may be better placed to go find Mr Hunter Reay out of retirement....

Speed would be great in CC. His talent is wasted in F1 in a slow car. Still, we do enjoy watching him until his car breaks or Wurz crashes him in F1. He is a great interview.

Speed will do everything to stay in F1 and only then will turn to champcar. Another option is the Red Bull card, if they do to him what they offered Klein last year, go to champcar, big salary with an option to return to F1 in the future.

He's publicly stated he'd take an option outside of F1 if it meant staying with Red Bull, as it seems to only be Berger and Tost he's fallen out with.

It does seem that Speed's time in F1 may be about to close, so perhaps a swap with Bourdais at Newman-Haas will be in the mix...

Then Scott could also try NASCAR road courses with Yates/Newman/Haas/Lanigan.

I can confirm that NHL has not one but two eyes on Scott Speed as a replacement for Bourdais. Source is a team employee.
(Time permitting I will post some interesting things I heard during the weekend in San Jose) The likelihood of Marco Andretti migrating to Champ Car next year is quasi nil. Some people blew out of proportion Robin Miller's words after the Cleveland race; there is a chance, but it is very, very remote. But I can tell you that there are interesting things happening to another CART dinasty... Regards to all, Muzza |

I've got to agree with Muzza. Marco to CCWS and lose all that great Andretti tradition at Indy?

Well since Speed is a Red Bull driver, I wonder if he will have a chance to join Jani next year {or perhaps earlier?} - In GP2 in 2005 Speed was third in the championship and Jani fourth - Maybe he'll get a chance at Gommendy's seat as he's not been that impressive this year.

Rumour was (still to be confirmed) Red Bull was dropping him, as well. A complete break. Some don't believe it as RB has supposedly put some $20 million into his development.

Gommendy has pretty much silenced his critics, he has won a pole. For a rookie, I think he has done quite well. I think he has brought some ca$h as well.
Minardi was talking about a 3rd car?? Still I think Speed will go to NHL; as Luke said: two good American drivers and Paul Newman on the same team, whats not to like. |
