I heard today that Les Lyons one of the good guys in motor racing has passed away. His dry sense of humour and Irish wit will be missed .

Very sad news indeed, he was a personal friend of a neighbour of mine a fellow countryman, he will be shocked at the news.
RIP Les |

Only just heard
My feelings go out to the family, I've been in a similar position and it's terrible. Les was a great bloke from what little I knew of him.
I only met Les a couple of times, most notably at the Sevenoaks and District Motor Club Sprint at Crystal Palace in 1999 where he agreed to share his Escort with my late Dad and they traded times all day and I thought it was such a nice gesture of Les, as no-one seemed to notice him due to it being the first time Dad had been back to Crystal Palace after his well-documented forays there. The last itme I saw Les was at Oulton Park last year and I thought I must go and talk to him, but he was surrounded by people and I thought "well, I'll see him next season around the CTCRC races and catch up then", not now, such a shame. Seemed like a lovely bloke, very fast peddlar and humble with it, sure he will be sorely missed in many circles. |

RIP Les
Jeez, I just returned from abroad to hear this shocking news. I raced him hard at Snetterton just a few months ago.
Very, very sad - he was such an amiable bloke, and amazingly quick too. What a shame. |
