Decent NASCAR Documentary?
As you may have gathered from the topic title I'm on the lookout for a NASCAR documentary. Are there any that you NASCAR fans would recommend to the casual viewer?
I've watched a few of the more recent races which are occasionally shown on the open access Sky channels here (in the UK), but I'd like to a bit more of the history of the sport. The "NASCAR: The Ride of Their Lives" DVD looks pretty good (and easy to get in the UK), would anyone recommend that? Also the "NASCAR: iMAX" DVD seems to have a few good reviews as well, though it looks a bit short. Any other suggestions welcome! |

And so it began . . .
This Google search turned up many links including an old one from 10-10ths as well as some of the ability to view the same content as the DVDs you mention.

Will continue having a nose around the internet, just wondered if any of the regular NASCAR viewers had seen and would recommend any of them in particular. You might also find "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" an interesting factual documentary on NASCAR as well. |

I get enough NASCAR from the TV so I can't really tell you what docs to recommend but..
since we are mentioning movies, there are some really good ones out there based on NASCAR, other than the "classics" mentioned above. Well, good depends on where you grew up and when, I reckon. Greased Lightning - the Wendell Scott story starring Richard Pryor; couple of scenes filmed at area tracks around me Six Pack - starring the "Gambler" himself Stroker Ace - starring the man, Burt Reynolds I always thought 3, the Dale Earnhardt story, was pretty good. |
