ROLL CAGE LEGAL OR NOT

I was hoping there may be somebody on here who could help me with clarify as to whether or not my Roll cage is compliant with the 2011 K1.3.1 roll cage amendments'. Its fitted to an MGF that used to race in the MGOC Championship but has not raced since the 2010 season. The cage was professionally built and the tube exceeds MSA Spec but as I discovered today not certified. Sorry about the crudeness of the Photo, Opinions would be appreciated

This article by Custom Cages would suggest that its fine as the Bend is below the Windscreen line.

ISTR at one time MGFs had some special dispensation on cages as the screen pillars and surround is designed as rollover protection.

Thanks David the info is much appreciated. I have spoken to the MSA today and they have asked me to send a few photos of the cage and they will let me know.

They did make an interesting point though : With the car being a Sports Car less than 2000cc a full cage will not be required , Only a rear hoop UNLESS Championship/Series dictate that a 6 point is fitted.

If the lateral Bars are found to have to many bends in them as long as they present no risk they are fine to be used unless the Championship/Series Regs state that a 6 point fixing should be used. In which case it would be illegal.

Hope that makes sense

Just as a bit of closure the technical department came back to me with the opinion that the cage is not legal if a 6 point cage is mandatory and will require a reinforcement to be added
