Changes to BTCC calendar?

Just reading the CART press release about the Brands Indy race.

http://www.cart.com/News/Article.asp?ID=5366

*****The London Super Prix promises to be the most exciting race weekend of the British motorsport calendar, combining the turbocharged fury of the Champ Cars with the wheel-to-wheel battles of the British Touring Car Championship. The racing program, which headlines with the Champ Cars, is supported by the second round of the BTCC, which is the premier British saloon and production car race series.*****

The press release says CART-Brands is May 5th, but I have on my schedule BTCC at Thruxton May 4th, and not at Brands Indy until June 8th. Was there a schedule update I missed?

I have just read that as well, there have been no changes to the BTCC calendar since Rockingham and Croft were confirmed, I expect there will be one now!! Will also be interesting to see how much the tickets will be for race day, expensive I would think. And with rumours about that Octagon don't own Brands anymore will their season ticket cover the race?

My calendar has ASCAR at Brands on that date.Maybe champcar have got their British series mixed up? Wait for confirmation from Octagon I think.

Wouldn't ASCAR be a CART support race though?

From what I can gather, plenty of series were waiting for final confirmation of the CART race before they finalised their calendars, just wait and everything should fall into place.

There is no mention of ASCAR supporting CART this time, just the BTCC, I expect that the opening round of ASCAR will be at Rockingham on another weekend, but as Cos said a lot of people were waiting for this confirmation and I'm sure all the calendars will be confirmed over the next few weeks. There is confirmation of the race date on CART's offical website, it was also announced at the Autosport Show today as well.

Hopefully, TOCA will just swap race dates and Thruxton will be held instead of one of the Indy rounds. They better as thats my nearest track!

Thruxton on May 5th will be swapping with one of the Brands rounds - I'd imagine this would be the 8th June Brands Hatch date as their date in August is the traditional one.

oh no. This means ticket prices will go up for brands? From what I know that won't be covered by season passes. Balls.

What a good start to the 2003 season!

The opening round is in Ireland and now the ticket costs for the second round at Brands are likely to be sky high.

Great.

Who told you that, Sim? All the advertising and promotional material for the Octagon Season Pass states that entry will be granted to all four wheel car meetings with the exception of the Saturday and Sunday of the GP. It is too late for them to change their minds now - at least it is for any passes already sold.

Its a guess Craig. If anyone has the terms and conditions for the season pass handy can you have a look? Is there anything stating that they can refuse entry to cetain meetings?

http://www.redshoes-racing.com/News/...2139935,97152,

Just got back from the NEC. As you've realised by now the BTCC will definately be at the Brands CART meetings. The handout also has a reference to 'Sportscars', with I assume means British GT.

To accomodate the change Thruxton moves to 25/26 May (previously Silverstone's date), Silverstone moves to 7/8 June (previously Brands).

Brands raceday tickets will be £40

Thanks for the info on the dates, Shoes. I just knew my diary for this year was looking far too neat and tidy - it had to end up with race meetings being scribbled out and moved
When you think about what Rockingham were charging for the Cart race, you can't really complain at 40 quid to see that as well as the BTCC. Should be fun.

In that case, better get those season passes quick! They cost £100, and should get you in to the friday pratice for the GP as well as the CART race, good value!

Apparently somebody HAS checked with Octagon, and they confirmed that the season passes DO include the CART race.

Tim, yes that's correct. Don't know about all the normal TOCA support races, assume they will be there as well.

Paul, no idea, they just said £40 for race day (Mon). Ticket office is 0870 850 1023. Octagon's ticketing website doesn't list an 2003 events yet so forget looking there.
