Moved threads
On several occasions, threads are posted on the wrong forum.
Usually they are promptly moved to the correct forum. I've got some problems with that: 1. Sometimes, such a thread is started on a forum in which I participate. From that moment on, I see: Quote:
1a. I see the posts of the thread. And on top of the page, I can see the name of the forum. 1b. I get an error message, saying that I'm not allowed to do whatever I was trying to do. This can be very irritating if it happens to a thread I had been reading before. There is absolutely no clue to which forum the thread has been moved. So I have to manually search the 15+ forums I don't normaly participate in, to find the thread I had been reading ... 2. (a minor problem) Sometimes it's hard to understand the first reactions, that had been posted before the thread has been moved. ---- -1. Is it possible, to change the message Quote:

That would be most helpful. -2. Is it possible, to have some indication on the moved thread (in its new forum), that it has been moved from another forum? That might make it somewhat easier to understand the first posts. |

Somewhat related to your post, I can bring forward another problem which I have been experiencing: When a thread is moved, I seem to lose the email notifications from it (I don't know if this happens every time). This is a huge drawback, as I rely heavily on these. I have on several occasions discovered threads which have been moved and have had a lot of replies that I haven't been notified of. It would be appreciated if this problem could be solved. |

I just encountered another "moved thread"-problem:
4. (a major problem) On the F1 forum, a new member started some threads. While we were replying, and trying to help him find the forum where the threads should have been posted, the threads have been moved. When the new member came back, he saw: [moved] [name of thread] [-] [-] [Don K] It seems as if he hasn't been able to find his threads; And now he seems to think that I "kicked him of the forum". (Sorry, I miscounted; R's problem is nr 3, so this one should have been n2 4 in stead of nr 3) Last edited by Don K; 22 Mar 2002 at 20:42. |

If the error message is displayed it generally means that the topic has been moved to a private forum where we keep all the deleted topics/posts. As only the forum staff have access to this forum, the error page is displayed correctly.
I will have a look into a better way of doing it though to avoid any future confusion. |
