Some excellent choices there. Mario is over the series' age limit (but I'm sure they'd make an exception if he wanted to come back in!). Not sure Piquet would touch a single seater again after his Indy crash although he still likes his sports car racing.
Of that lot the only one I reckon wouldn't be interested is Boutsen, it just doesn't seem like the sort of thing he'd want to get involved with - and the rather rough'n'tumble racing definitely wasn't his sort of thing, he was always smooth and unobtrusive. |

The drivers I'd like to see added to the series would be Alain Prost, Nelson Piquet, Niki Lauda, Keke Rosberg, Gerhard Berger, John Watson, Carlos Reutemann, Jean-Pierre Jabouille, Martin Brundle, Pierluigi Martini and Roberto Moreno.

Pierluigi Martini, Piercarlo Ghinzani, Stefano Modena, Ukyo Katayama, Alessandro Nannini (though I don't know if he'd be physically able to after his helicopter crash in 1990, though he has competed in Touring Cars since I think). Im sure Michele Alboreto would have joined in as well

Alain Prost definitely, I reckon he'd be up there with Mansell and Fittipaldi. I'd like to see Piquet as well, Keke Rosberg, Martin Brundle, Gerhard Berger...there's loads I'd like to see!

I'm surprised Alliot is not in the field....Martini would be a great addition as well. How about Nakajima? |

Piero Martini not 'old' enough til next year, Modena and Katayama not required age until 2008 by my reckoning?
Good ideas and choices all round though!! Alliott is a good one i hand'nt thought of - he'll be brilliant in qualifying.....?? You'll find that in the next 2 years the age limit will open it up for a fair few guys from early 90's. Few of us referred to this yesterday in the post race thread, but organisers would have to be bit careful with Moreno, Brundle, Berger and a few of the 'younger' guys as they'd probably race off into the distance and 'muck up' any kind of gentelmans agreement that might be going on in the background! I'd love to see Thackwell have a go - seeing the Phantom cars reminded me of his late 3000 outings in the mid 80's. I know he never got chance to do lot of F1, probably only 2-3 GP's over 4 or 5 years but it wasn't because he wasn't any good. In fact someobody wrote somewhere (can't remember who) that they considered him to be one of the top 5 or 6 drivers in the world in 85/86 and he wasn't even in F1 at the time!!! Be nice to see him with old buddies like Moreno, Lammers and Cheever from his F2 days etc.. Mauro Baldi could be pretty good too. |

It's got to be Brundle.....Mr nice guy of the F1 Paddock, very under rated aswell. Good to see Nige and Derek Warwick in there.

Piquet, Berger and Hill have written themselves off i think.
Piquet maybe. Berger said he wouldnt take part in competitive singlke seaters because of Alboretos accident And Hill said he is too busy with his family to be risking his neck in a racing car. |

From Alain Prost who will take part next year if it goes ahead, to Keke Rosberg and also Mario Andretti, I don't think he's to old yet as he was MAYBE going to take part in the 2003 Indy 500 Lol if it wasn't for that practice crash....

You know, I bet Arturo Mezzario might show up to an event, especially if there is a round in Italy.
Mauro Baldi is a good one. How about Jochen Mass? Tackwell could not race because I believe you had to have been in F1 for two seasons. Besides, I think he is done with racing. On that note, Tommy Bryne would be cool, but he too didn't compete in two season's of F1. |

I thought MT did one or 2 in 1980 with Tyrrell or someone and then 1984 with RAM?.
Byrne only did part of one year i think, which was a disaster for him, same for Kenny Acheson (1983/85) and Beppe Gabbiani ('81)? All 3 were around at same time but didn't get the breaks in F1. |

Hmmmm have we also all forgotten about a very successful Brit who started in MG's, won F3, F2, spent 6 seasons in F1 ( in fairly rubbish cars) and was a McLaren test driver for some time?!

I think you'd have a good series regardless of the drivers that participate. But some more big names would be good.
