Looking good! A 22 car field, and I'll bet there are more to come before this season is out. There going to look great going around Texas, at night!

Some people need to sit down and watch this race, instead of fantasising and dreaming about what this series should be, could be, and needs to be, and realize that this is already a great series with some of the best racing to be found anywhere!

Forget the past, and forget the future, and try enjoying the present for a change. There's a novel idea...

It would've been nice for Simmons to have tied up a permenant deal, but at least Greg and Al are there. It's still a strong field however you look at it.

I agree 1,000% GP Racer....

this June race in Texas under the lights is one of my favorites on the season schedule....

always a fast and wild event with wheel-to-wheel racing...

If the doubters would just sit and watch this particular race, they would have to admit that the racing action is excellent....

and if some of the past finishes in this race didn't move you, then you don't have a pulse!!!!

I can hardly wait until Saturday night...

This will be one heck of a race! Great field with lots of potential winners. One thing, where's Robby Gordon's car? I thought that this car would appear for the rest of the schedule...will it appear later on in the year?

Thanks guys...

That other thread has me really bothered, "is the IRL turning into CART". I'm so tired of hearing about all of the "so-called" problems with the IRL, especially in the middle of a great season like this! I mean, the IRL is enjoying growth in almost all areas, yet all we hear is more and more crying about how bad it is now, and how it needs to change, than ever before. Have any of these posters even bothered to watch a race, or even tried to enjoy this series, before telling the world of all the radical changes they think are necessary? Or are they just here out of jealousy for a series they despise, that is fast becoming the open wheel series to be in? Maybe it is there disbelief, that TG has won this war, and they refuse to come to terms with it, I don't know.

At this point, I could frankly care less if these two series ever get together, because the IRL has a good future with or without the other series, and will still provide the closest, and fastest racing to be found anywhere, on its own. And the fans WILL come!

Can't either series just get through the season without all this ridiculous fantasising and dreaming? Can't we just enjoy the actual racing, without this constant harping about all the problems? This stuff is for the silly season, not now...

Sorry for the rant, I'm done now. To those regulars here, that will actually watch the race, enjoy it, it should be great!

The IRL certainly has less problems than ever before, and you can't fault the quality of driving or racing so far. ALl that's really needed is for Chevvy and Toyota to get back on the ultimate pace, and then it can claim to be the best racing series on four wheels (NOTHING can match MotoGP right now)

Have to agree that Jeff Simmons performance should get him a full-time shot in the IRL.

Hmmm, Carl Hass might be looking for a driver, right?

Good question by JHansen, where is Gordons car? I thought he had a full-time team ready to go for the rest of the season?

I think the idea was that, IF Haas runs his IRL team for the rest of this season, junquiera and Bourdais would stay in CART, at least for the rest of 2004, so someone else would drive the Haas IRL entry.

I'm nt sure of the relevance of mentioning Tony Stewart.

As for Robby, presumably running the car full-season was dependant on getting a sponsored driver. It's a shame Jacques Lazier seemingly can't do it full-time.

Also see the new IRL thread. Maybe Stewart *is* going to be involved in IRL....

If Haas moves (and he's got 16 reasons million to), it will only be in 2005 and I wouldn't cont on Junky or Sebas moving over. Bruno I think has unfinished business in trying to take the championship

Isn't Bruno currently leading the OWRS points???

If he gets it done this year, he could come over...

But I'd ranther see Haas run Jeff Simmons or Richie Hearn....
