Le Mans, Sarthe and Pays de la Loire Tourism Tips
I still am planning to go to Le Mans in September. I booked a camping in Neuville, and if permitted, I'd like to go there and play homo touristicus instead of racefan. Wining and dining will be included as well, of course.
So, do you have any tips for me? Museums, Castles, Restaurants, Bars, Vineyards, Cycleroutes, the lot! The more tips, the merrier! Thx in advance, Vincent |

I was thinking the same, the best thing we can have is watching tv with the live sound of LM in the distance. Who knows, I might do that.

Lots to do.
You could probably stitch together a pretty good 100 Years War trip including places like Nogent le Rotrou - which has a good castle. La Ferte Vidame is an excellent ruined chateau from the revolution. You probably know this but La Lude is a nice village (good pizza place) with a liveable chateau and excellent gardens. The abbey at Solesmes looks like a level from Return to Castle Wolfenstein - so of some comedy value. Lots more - depending on how far afield you want to range. |

As vince will be on "Balconia" that would make him Juliet.

As I said before, touristy tips only.
Could you please refrain from banter of all sorts and only post usefull pointers towards things to do in Le Mans and its wider region? |

I'm no expert and haven't done the more obscure, off the beaten path visits. What I have seen that impressed me though was Angers. Nice town square with some really good restaurants, a small but well preserved old town, and a beautiful, fortified chateau. The train ride from Le Mans to Angers is pretty handy.
I'm sure everyone has already done this, but the cathedral in Chartres is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. |

Sarthe has just been placed on the "Red-list" in Belgium, so no bungeejumping or camping in Neuville for me. Will probably give Saumur a wide berth as well, can't take the risk to have the Maine-et-Loire region promoted to Red as well while being there.
Will decide where to spend my "Le Mans Vacation" on the day before departure. |

things may change in 3 weeks time Vince but to be honest 2020 is a write off as far as travelling/holidays, but you did at least get to visit the uk before this mess started, i have not left the uk this year unless you count the skies above Kent. Start looking forward to 2021 and keep those fingers crossed.
