Alonsomania should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I am having an idea...

Since I am a big GT fan since GT2,and I never had the money (or will) to buy a PSX/PS2,i had an idea last night...

What is we make a sort game like GT for the PC?
Maybe we can do it without racing it self, with a script/code.
So we can add instead of long taking models more and more cars and track.

But,we will need some good coders for it.

I hoped there are some coders around here, cause it will be really great to have that game running

let me know all your ideas!

Hmmm... this requires A LOT of work, research, manpower and dedication to have anything even remotely near to the quality of the GT's games.....

It's simply almost impossible...

Uhm................. ok...
A game like GT, which is a racing game, without the racing?

So.... what's the point as I don't really get it?

Alonsomania... what will the input and output be? ie... the idea of the game?

Will you do setups for the car? manage a team? Do aero research and so-on? Like a football manager? From what you have said I dont think anyone can make out what you idea is.

Actually, let's not cast the whole idea into the bin just yet. Something I have dreamed of is a full racing managment sim for my pc, not an Internet job. If this is what you mean then it could actually be possible. You take the basic programming from a football manager and tweek it to whatever racing series you want, F1, IRL, club level stuff, GT's, BTCC, the possibilities are endless. Now, all we need is someone who knows how to do it.

I don't think it'd be as simple as taking a football manager game and giving it some racing stripes.

Plus you'd need a lot of time and money to be successful.

The idea is nice, but it's dead in the water really.

You can't simply "take" the "basic programming" from someone elses football managing game and use all their hard work for free to convert in some racing managing sim...

Besides you'll need to restructurize quite a bit of code just to accomodate the process of racing simulation in there, even when it's just for example a 2d illustration of what's going on at the track like in GPW...

And then I'm not even mentioning sound editing and databases!!

You won't need "someone", you'll rather need a whole team to be able to do it...

No, the music in that got depressing...

But it was quite a good game, if a little easy.

The real ferrari has a lot more championships if it wants to equal my 15 in a row

I got about 10 titles with Williams (Jacques Villeneuve 10 Time World Champion! ), 4 titles with Arrows and 3 with Minardi IIRC.
Great game that one...

You could only do 10 seasons in that game though...

It was 20 seasons I think ASCII.
bartman, well done, I never could be bothered to work up from that low. I did quite well with Sauber.
Anyway, the original idea here was nice, but as others say, its not going to be possible for a small group of amateurs to do. These things have enormous credit lists for a good reason!
Still, its given you a game to think about finding Alonsomania, one which is almost what you're looking for anyway.

Try it, if it doesn't do anything or screws it up, change it back.
It's simple really...

I emailed Edward Grabowski (he made the game), about if the is anyway to mod Grand Prix World so it was longer than 10 season but he said it would not be possible,

I cant remeber the reason why, I emailed him last year about it, but it was along the lines the games database can only hold 10 seasons of data and therefore would have to be rewritten to allow for more.

I wonder if lots of people email him about it if he might make a mod?

This is his website http://www.edwardgrabowski.com .

i have found a good base for the game: a free cycling game.
Played it a few years ago,and i hope...

i thought it was Super Cycle 3 or something like that.
