Wingman should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Time difference

G'day Guys
I'll lay my F1 cards on the table so you know where I'm coming from. I think the actual racing has been as boring as the Pope's sex life, but this year I'm watching for a couple of reasons. Webber, and seeing how the worlds fastest cheat handles the new rules. So far it's been good, the racing isn't much better, but at least there are some different cars at the pointy end.
I realise that the cars have made huge improvements since last year and Ferrari are going to be behind while they use the old car, but what are the times like compared to last year at the same tracks? Have the red rockets actually gone backwards?

Cheers

Wingman.

Welcome to 10 Tenths. I'm also glad Webber is now in a decent team. Unfortunately, I fear, the thing that will be picked up in your first post isn't the interesting time comparison, but the little dig you had.

The field is very competitive this year. I thought that at the begining of the race when you see the Ferrari's down in 11th and 14th and the Red Bull cars so high up. It is a strength in depth that is rarely seen in a open chassis championship.

As for the lap times here is a general comparison lap times at Australia http://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66302
It deals mainly with Friday practice, but touches on the races (comparing all years at Australia). Saturday was affected by rain. It doesn't specifically touch on the Ferrari's performance, but there is some information there.

Marlboro man should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I think they are just as fast (or slow) as they were last year and that's the reason why they were 11th and 13th last race.

The fact that fourteen of the twenty competing cars have a chance to get on te podium isn't helping also. A half a second in quali can mean the difference between P4 or P12
It's very close, I would like to see these teams racing under pre 2003 regulations.

Thanks Adam, I checked your link, but I still don't understand why the Ferrari's are so much slower, when they were so dominant last year. Still, it will be good to see some one on one action between Michael and some of the new stars in competitive cars.
