New bit on lids?
Whats this new bit I keep seeing on lids these days, its like a spoiler just below the visor? What its for.

Aerodynamics I believe. Prevents lift.

lol, i have one of those on my crash helmet, i also have one on the back, personally it makes no differnece its just there for show

The spoilers are there mainly for single seater racing, to aid the flow of air into the air box behind the head.

hmmm not sure I agree on that, the only benifit I've felt the difference with/without a spoiler was at Spa and castle combe on two high speed bits

about 130mph. I think there's more need for the spoilers though because our heads don't have any bodywork or anything surrounding them.

Theoretically the spoiler as well as the crown ridges (on the helmets that have them) reduce buffeting in rough air and as you move out of the draft into clean air when you reach high enough speeds to actually draft.
