Aintree Festival - November 19th to 21st

Aintree is to host a motorsport festival, including non-competitive events and static displays.

Sounds like a good event.

We really MUST organise a 10/10ths gathering at this event. I know of at least 4 others who will be keen to meet up.

I will certainly be there. I marshalled there in the late seventies, (tuesday evenings ) So should see some old faces.
Looking at the website the ticket prices do seem to be confusing. Is it me or is it more expensive on the Friday than other days? Also what era of cars will be there? 50s thru to 70s when the circuit closed would be apt.

Last circuit race 1982.
Still used for bike racing, sprints and odd test days.
Unrecognisable from those halcyon days though, with a golf course and hills in the middle and rather stupid fencing too close to the track for comfort.

Just booked a hotel for it. Haven't visited the circuit since a sprint in the early 90s.... really looking forward to it!

Registered my interest on their site some weeks ago,no reply yet.I think most of the action will be on the Friday,as there is horse racing on Sat & Sun.Noisy cars might upset the horses!!
Don't think its worth booking a hotel until I have a ticket.

Festival of Motorsport Update

Our apologies for any delays in answering your comments. This has been due to a delay in getting Aintree's official signature on the contract. This has no been done and we confirm that the event will take place from the 19th to 21st November. In addition, the event will take place each year for the next 5 (although not always in November).

As you know our ultimate aim is to return competitive racing to Aintree - the UK's first Grand Prix Circuit.

As has been quite correctly highlighted - the main motorsport's day is Friday 19th - we have hired all of Aintree Racecourse, including the 20,000 seater stands, hospitality boxes, function suites, exhibition hall and the Liverpool Circuit. But don't worry about the Saturday and Sunday events - these will be exclusively ours until 1pm and then combined with a steeplechasing in the afternoon - where we will still have parades, track events, etc.

The website is constantly being updated so please keep checking for further information as it is posted - in particular look out for the impressive worldwide interest.

If you are booking hotels please consider the Travel Inn Group for budget pricing and the new Hope Street Hotel for luxury. From tomorrow you will be able to book your hotels and tickets online via our website at www.ccuk.com/aintree.htm.

Regards, Gary Millar

Suggest you contact Gary from the previous post.It is not yet clear if any actual competitions are involved. If not like the London demo no marshals may be needed.

Gents, its looking probable that a meeting is being arranged next Tuesday, July 27, in Chester. Though we describe ourselves as "Northern TNFers", "10/10thers" would be very welcome too. Any takers ??

Well I would if I wasn't on holiday. Just my luck!
Back the week after if any good. Is this specifically about Aintree or what? And is Aintree going to happen. there seems to be some doubt about the festival actually taking place.
