A GP in Greece?!
You would have thought that Greece, given its current economic situation, would be the most unlikely of countries to be holding an F1 GP. Or even to have available the funds to build a circuit!

In keeping with the "inclusive" mantra of the Austin Circuit of the Americas, I think the Greek track should be called the "Circuit of the World" since half the world bailed their arses out!
Once it's built all the Turkish GP fans can go there too, all 10,000 of them. |

Greece doesn't have any real motorsport events, but I do think there should be some event that can be given to countries without needing to have an F1 grade circuit there every year - some World Cup type thing perhaps. Greece hasn't really had an exposure to top level closed course motorsport, the sport does need to grow, but just plonking a GP there won't necessarily work.
If you do want a Greek GP, I would have gone for a temporary circuit round the disused Ellinkion Airport and the Olympic Park. |

Greece is a very historic place with great scenery a GP would fit and look the international historic challenge and presence a gp deserves. Of course the whole money thing...

Hey, create some jobs and bring in some people, why not?
Buuuuut, I see nothing but fail ahead. Where does the sport go next? We're to the point almost where they can't add races, only take them away from other places. Isn't there still plans for Russia and India? Not to mention the US again. Where do they go? Only so many weeks in a year, teams can only get to places so quickly, realistically. |

In Greece there is a riot every day, the situation of the society is disastrous, there are protests every day, it surely is the European country that most felt the economic crisis...andthey want spent millions to build a Formula 1 circuit?

I was under the impression that the Turks and the Greeks didn't get along very well? What better way to bring both factions together than to alternate GPs in both countries. It ought to be a riot!
