Advertising support for teams
What are the rules concerning advertising?
Now that Fosters has come onboard with the Australian A1GP team. We know they are a big company and spend millions on Advertising at the F1 circuits. I'm in favour of the big international companies and what they can bring to the sport...(bias being an Aussie :-) but won't that affect the spirit of A1GP, as some of the other countries wont have the big money companies to support them and there-fore limits their budget in the personnel they can hire. |

Teams have to raise 90% of their sponsorship from their home country.
It leaves some countries at a slight disadvantage as obviously the costs are high to come on board but some countries have few companies that have that kind of marketing budget and are looking for global exposure. |

The advantage I guess with this series tho is there isn't a great deal they can really spend there money on to gain any great advantage it will all come down to people.

Fosters have just pulled out of F1 to attract a younger audience. This is the first BIG coup of the A1GP series

The Fosters deal would have come with AJ, having been sponsored by Fosters as an F1 driver with the Beatrice team.... seeminlgly a lifetime ago now.. and various Gruop A and V8Supercar deals since... |

I heard or read somewhere that Fosters prefer to support events not the individual,(not backing an unknown talented driver or car) That's why you see their advertising posted all round the F1 tracks not on a driver/car.
The big thing here is that Fosters is branding Australia and in that the Australian team (Australia is know for good beer) This could start other Companies who want to brand their wares made by that country to sell to the world. |

So what...all the teams are soon going to be sponsored by the best beer of each nation?
There's a disscussion all it's own. I would think raising 90% would be hard for some nations. Here in Canada for one example. No race coverage, and nobosy hardly know's the series. |

CUB the makers of Fosters is still the largest brewer in Australia it's just their other brands that are popular here now, Mark Webber is still sponsored by Fosters but as Jag & Williams were/are sponsored by other beers they've stuck one of their wine labels on him instead.

I noticed several teams carrying new branding, not just Australia - I think it'll gradually increase through the year.
