On our local news last night they a story with Rob Benson etc and they said Andy has secured BOC for the this weekend and had painted the car in BOC colours, as for the rest of the season, they didn't say. Would be good if they have signed for the whole season, IMO he has a good chance of taking the championship.

No pictures as yet I don't think, they didn't show on the news either just were talking to Andy, Kim and Rob. May have to wait until the weekend.

Without checking (GTR???) maybe Konica's should adopt the same rules as Formula Ford - win the series and you can't compete in the series for the following two years...

Hmmmm - thinking about this - this should also be extended to the team as well - force them into the main series (demote the lowest in the main series? Sort of like the British Football championships...)

I think Canto ran the year after he won - Rules have more than likely changed since then tho.

There is no reason why Winterbottom could not race in the Konicas again this year.... He just so happens to have a better offer!!!

No, Canto did not run the year after he won in the Konicas... He ran a limited number of Shell rounds in that dark blue AU Falcon....

There is no rule against a Konica Minolta series winner backing up and running the next season.

Other than asking why you would bother, as the driver would be on a hiding to nothing.....

The interesting thing is that any L1 team has to gain the permission of TEGA to actually participate in Konica Minolta... so technically TEGA has the power to allow these hotshyt cars in that class or not.

I am concerned about it, the fields are hot now without L1 involvement... and this will become an issue when the BA is allowed to join the field in 2005!

I wouldnt be so excited just yet about this paintwork. The press releases thus far have said the deal is for Wakefield Park only... so perhaps it wont appear at other rounds... or indeed is a sponsorship on spec and if the company gets good exposure, the team will be paid accordingly....

Interesting to see Sime Tyres on the BJR car, wonder if this is the sponsor that was much rumoured to have been nicked from an existing team (LRT/Tasman)

Maybe BOC will stay on after Andy whips arse this weekend!!!!!!!!!!

There used to be a rule about doing Konicas the year after you've won it. It has apparently disappeared after it looked apparent at the end of 2003 that whoever won the series would be denied a drive the next year due to the rule (Winterbottom's Orrcon drive only appeared late, and Matty White owns his own Konica team, and it would be a little strange to deny him the chance to drive for his own team).
