Tom Kristensen in trouble?

Currently in Copenhagen and heard a rumour that Tom Kristensen has had some trouble with the tax authorities here. Is there any truth in this and how serious is it?

Doesn't everyone in Denmark have trouble with the tax authorities? When the private working population is smaller than those paid by the state...

It's Just because a danish Golf player got caught, living in Denmark, when his address was in monaco.
An the next day it was all over the news that TK might have done the same thing.

I read a number of articles lately about people fleeing from Denmark to work elsewhere as pretty much the tax regime takes most of what you earn if you make more than a decent salary.

At least he's not an american. Here the US government demands you pay taxes on any income you earn anywhere in the world.

Even if you pay taxes on that money in the other country? If not, then it's the same as most developed countries. If so, then you're being leached lol.

Denmark is known for its high taxes but premier social conditions. Hopefully Tom isn't in any trouble, aka, he pays whatever he owes. He could go live in Switzerland or Monaco like many of the racing drivers.

The premier social conditions exist for those that don't work and are supported by those that do.

Yes the USA is one of the few countries in the world that demand taxation on every US citizen no matter where they live. It's also a crime not to declare foreign assets or bank accounts. There are some exemptions you can declare such as a $86000 deduction if you live overseas for more than 11 months of a tax year or credit for foreign taxes paid in a tax year, so that can reduce your tax burden but you still have to file a return every year.

I think that's the same everywhere. In Europe we have regulations that should apply in all countries to forbid double taxation but you still have to declare the earnings. Whether you pay taxes on them depends where you earned them and if in that country you paid taxes on them. That's the law at least.... and we all know how that works out sometimes.

I won't get into the Danish thing too much but State money can also be invested well in education and healthcare which helps everyone. But I probably wouldn't be too happy, either forking over 60% of my income lol.

So Americans can get taxed even if they spend their entire lives abroad?

No taxation without representation...

If they spend their entire lives abroad as Americans, they still vote.

Yep. Technically you have to file and pay up. Of course there are some that slip under the radar and don't bother but if found out the US can and will confiscate US assets they can get their hands on, plus give you trouble when you reapply for a passport or reenter the country.

Yes, there are a lot of absentee (mail in) voters! And if they do not vote, well, that is their choice.
