Renault's 2009 Engine Package
Does anybody know the changes that Renault were allowed to make to thier engin packages in order to bring them inline with that of Ferrai and McLaren. Apparently the mods were approved by all teams. Just curious on what the changes will entail and with these will we see a more competitive Renault and Reb Bull this season?

Is there any reason such information wouldn't have been released to the public?
I had a look around and couldn't find anything. |

It is no secret that Renault had a new Elf fuel from Singapore onwards. The Renault engineers had also possibly made the wrong decision previously about the best shape for their torque curve, in that the engine was considered very torquey - ideal for use with traction control - but lacked top end power.
A reliable source tells me that modifications to the CR, the ports and cams have been permitted to level the playing field. |

Maybe slightly off topic but, Bob Bell worked on KERS at McLaren, before Paragon as soon as the LRS project was cancelled. This may (pure speculation I know) be an indication that Renaults KERS might be pretty good. I note Fernando is the first (AFAIK) to confirm Renault will be using their KERS in Australia.

Renault arent doing it by themselves though. Together with Ferrari and Toyota, theyre working with Magnetti Marelli.
