British GT 2017
Thought I would start this thread as the topic of British GT has become very quiet on here for a while.
Anyway a couple of entries have been confirmed already for next year including both TF sport Aston Martin's (with unchanged line ups) and a AF Corse Ferrari 488. I believe a GT4 entry has been confirmed for the 2 top drivers from the Ginetta Junior championship, although I don't think this has been mentioned on the British GT website or social media. Will be interesting to see if there are more GT3 entries next year following the changes to the GT3 format. I would be surprised if Strakka Racing don't enter at least 1 of their McLaren's into the championship. Any other news/ thoughts? |

Planned because the championship is likely to be oversubscribed again and they may not get picked for an entry.

The reason i didn't put any more GT4s on the list as that there are too many cars for the number of spaces available so lots of the names announced may not be racing if their entries aren't accepted.
was waiting for confirmation before adding them. |

MacMillan are the only ones that i will add as that list is confirmed by SRO where as there are lots of entries for GT4 so some might not get in so will only add once they have been official announced on the britishGT site

Seeing as it looks like there will be more entries than places this year, I guess it's worth asking the annual question.
What would everyone prefer? Combined GT3 + GT4 races capped to the 32 car limit (it is 32 right?), meaning potential entries have to be turned away. Or Separated races for GT3 and GT4 where we could be seeing 17-18 or so cars in each race. Personally I'm torn, on one hand I love the element of multi class racing in the series. On the other hand, PWC has proved single class racing can be just as fun, and I hate the idea of turning cars away from the series. Their other national series option is GT Cup which I don't really rate. In addition, the prospect of extra races each weekend would be great, being a regular spectator of the BGT Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think the best way is to split the grid but have joint races at tracks that are longer/bigger i.e Spa, Silverstone etc.

I don't think there'll be an even split. If you split fields you might be looking at around 14 cars in the supposedly headlining GT3 race.

By the time the season comes around I doubt they'll actually hit the capacity limits at most tracks. There always seems to be dropouts for one reason or another.

How about everyone can run for qualifying, or have qualifying heats, or something? This is, of course, assuming capacity grids are exceeded.

I agree, if I was paying to drive then I got knocked out before the race is be pretty angry. That or I'd be put off from entering at all. My vote is for split GT3 / GT4 races Maybe even allow GT Cup cars in although there isn't really many of those in the UK Either wAy, it's not a bad problem having too many cars than too few Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You could also do a consolation round for the guys that are out in qualifying, I guess. Top 10 GT3 and GT4 get to the A-final, rest do the B-final. Needs a points system that runs all the way through A and to at least some point into B.
