2022 Repco Supercars Championship - Bunnings Trade Perth SuperNight, Wanneroo Raceway

Races 10, 11 and 12 this weekend.

Although SVG has never won at Wanneroo he must start as favourite.

Can anyone beat him?

Going for the first time in many years. Where's the GA best place to sit ? I presume you can't take your car trackside - bit hard to tell looking at the event map.

When I get the chance I sit at the last corner heading onto the main straight,
Generally I sit on the top end of the esses coming out of turn one. Always good viewing (BIG HOWEVER) the infield pits restricts viewing on the main straight from that loaction but the Large Screens let you see the action.

Cant believe I cant attend for time in 3 years/ Margaret River Pro event for me

Time for old man Baird to retire.

If you cannot apply penalties consistently then don't apply them at all.

How was Heimgartner's rejoin at the end of lap 1 different to Waters' rejoin?

Because the driver behind Andre was non whinging like Will and DJR were, that is the worse penalty I have seen

Agreed it was a shocker.

Remember though Cam got pinged for an unsafe rejoin, not for driving around the back of the kerb.

Last unsafe rejoin I saw was Scotty Mc at Bathurst in 2016 and we all know what a shotfight that caused...

The way I saw it the penalty should have been for maintaining position by abuse of track limits, rather than for the rejoin.

Have seen that move by many cars over the years in Perth...bogus call no doubt.

When you watch every race, season after season, anything unusual on track or in the pits catches the eye. There was nothing to see here, play on.

Yeah this.

He should have slotted in behind Davison.

What happened in years gone by, is irrelevent. They've decided to clamp down on track limits there, and rightly so.

Except they stopped clamping down after the Waters penalty and forgot to beforehand.

Notes from Stewards report after race 10:
"During the Race the Stewards imposed a 5 Second Time Penalty on Car 6, Cam Waters, for gaining a lasting advantage upon re-entering the Race Track at Turn 7 on Lap 27."

So despite the broadcast reporting, the penalty was for gaining a lasting advantage by going off the track.

I assumed the audio played on the broadcast was from the Race Control radio channel to all teams saying it was unsafe reentry?
Was the penalty changed to post race, or the audio wrong?

Whichever it was it exists in the rules for a penalty to be clarified and this is absolutely the right penalty for the action.

You can't just run off the track to stop someone passing you.

But telling the penalized team the incorrect information is going to make them react badly, but theater is more important than racing.

You can’t over commit to the corner and run the leader beyond track limits.
How did Waters be behind, then go 11 meters out of bounds into dusty dirty tarmac and still manage to come out a car length in front?

By illegally exceeding track limits to keep his position instead of conceding?

Will did not run Cam wide, Cam decided early to boot it and drive around the kerb. Off the track.
