Bourdais to STR 09? .. France goes bonkers.
A thread on Sebastian Bourdais website starts with this quote:
"Seb is analysing the contract that has him with Toro Rosso for 2009, however he can not refuse, otherwise it will be 2009 at the ANPE (in IndyCar doors are closed, the seats are taken), so it Time to celebrate!" And then continues with the funniest set of celebratory pictures I've ever seen on a racing site... (8th 9th & 10th posts especially) http://www.sbourdais.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2883 I hope he did sign this afternoon, I was enjoying his progress last year. Maybe we'll know Monday. |

Would be brilliant, no matter the contract conditions. I just would love to see him do another season.

He deserves another go, for sure. Although I guess this means the end of the road for Button (for now...).

Apparently Bourdais was always the teams #1 pick, but with the need to bring in sponsorship, Sato and his Japanese backers remained a serious contender as well. With the worsening Japanese recession though, Sato may have lost his backers which could be what has lead Toro Rosso to make a decision.

My original theory was that STR were delaying over Bourdais until Button's situation was resolved.
If that was the case (and it's a big if), the signing of Bourdais could suggest that Honda are about to announce a buyer. |

Good for Seb.
I'm no fan, but he's a class driver and deserves a lengthy shot at this game. |
