I would say a convincing format, rather good.
Although I can't see why the IRL can't use the oval qualifying format. |

interesting , the shootout could be a good idea but sometimes it really sux.
we use it here in Oz V8's and I really dont like it for that but it may just work well with the Indycars , but overall I think thats a pretty good system |

Seems like quite a good system, although maybe there should be more than 6 cars in the shoot-out. Incidentally, will the IRL be using standing or rolling starts for these races?

I like it.
You have shoot out, happy hour, you have everything. [Patriotic tripe] IRL is moving only one way; forward.[/Patriotic tripe] |

Yes - it seems to have been well thought through.
I can't wait for St Petersburg. |

Fianlly got a chance to read through. Seems like a good process and one which will maximize the amount of "meaningful" time the cars are on the track. A big plus for the fans!

This system seems much more fan-geared than what F1 has used in recent years - plenty of track time, a genuine qualifying contest to find the fastest car (ironic that they describe this as 'European-style', considering what F1 now does), and a good chance for everyone to achieve their best.
