Rod Birley should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Lydden 15 & 22 May

Some websites and fixture lists show these dates as BARC meetings at Lydden. Unfortunately, neither is happening. May 15th was due to be the BriSCA F.1 50th anniversary event but instead this is now a motorcycle meeting. The F.1s are racing at Northampton stadium that evening and will be commemorating the anniversary along with F.2 stock cars. A bumper (pardon the pun) entry is expected.
May 22nd was to have been an alternative date but other fixtures were already booked so no agreement could be reached (shame, especially after a lot of hard work and a very big phone bill). However, the short circuit boys will be appearing on Sept.11th at Lydden and amongst the events planned will be the stock rod vs. stock hatch round two on the oval.

Thanks for that Rod. Although Sept 11th sounds a long way off I've already put it in my diary as last years event was well worth going to.

Just for the record it was a brilliant evening's racing at Northampton. All the top F.1 stockcar drivers put on a great show..extremely fast final won by Gary Castell (just) from Junior Wainman. Big crowd, lots of cars. How about this: 57 F.2s tried to line up for the final allcomers race!!!

Rod, I have to say that since my recent move to the Ipswich area that I've thoroughly enjoyed short-circuit racing. For instance, Legends are great at Lydden but they are even better on a quarter mile oval like Foxhall. Last night was a night of V8 Stock cars, SuperStox, small engined Stocks and Rookie bangers - 13 races with decent grids for a tenner and plenty of entertainment !

Just wait until the BriSCA F.1s come there in October, along with National hot rods.
Incidentally the organisers arranged an extra race for all those F.2s
