Not long I would think . As far as I remember , Le Mans is still on his mind .
Be great to see McLaren build a LMP1 car and go for out right victory . |

Nah. I reckon Ron's had enough of the FIA by now.
Time for a more peaceful life! |

I think they a far more likely to go GT racing with a supported customer programme than to head for protoypes - at least in the short to medium term.

They will need to develope some sort of GT car first before going racing, times are hard and money tight, however there is no better way for any car to climb into history than racing, so lets hope a maclaren will be seen at Le mans in the near future.

From the BBC Report about him Leaving the F1 team they say
"Dennis will now concentrate solely on McLaren's new sports car project." "Dennis will lead the group's project to develop a range of pure McLaren sports cars, with the launch date for the first model set for 2011." So hopefully they will build a racing version. |

I think wee will see the first test photos of the F1/P11 car next year!.
When it's launched in 2011, it will run a year on the road, and then being developed to a FIA GT, GT1 (aco) or GT2 (aco). If that is successful, then McLaren might think on developing an Lmp1!?, but what should be remembered about this car is that it probably wont be driven by an McLaren engine!. So any racing program would have too be accepted by the engine producer! (Like BMW did a part in the Mclaren F1 program!) |

dont forget ALL those renders have been produced by people OUTSIDE of McLaren. You can tell the Car mag one is based off of some Ascari images. Only images to trust are the actual spy shots

http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/News/Se...ils-live-blog/ I am not saying that these pictures are of the actual car - but it is 100% clear that Mclaren are stepping into more serious sportscar production. And if its car magazine you doubt - perhaps this will get you believing this is happening: http://www.mclarenautomotive.com/new...php?article=28 |

I agree there is a new maclaren coming very soon, but years of leaked news of amazing cars which are going to be being built either turn out very different or never materialise have made me very sceptical.
However I am also very optimistic that whatever the car eventually looks like it is unlikely to be as ugly as some of the recent offerings from more established supercar makers. |

The chassis in those photos resembles a bit the F1 from the 90s.
I liked those cars. |

The "LM" GT2 Grand Touring car must meet a minimum of the following criteria : a/ To be regularly produced by a manufacturer approved by ACO ; • A regular production implies a permanent implementation of the means required to produce a minimum of 1 car per week for the "big manufacturers" and one car per month to the "small manufacturers". If the production is not respected, the ACO will suspend the homologation of the car the year after. The suspension of the homologation will cease once the production delay has been made up. It will be permitted to compete with the car as soon as a minimum of 100 road cars for the "big manufacturers" and 25 road cars for the "small manufacturers" will be produced. L.P. |
