Crikey have a look at this 2001 round 1 grid , only 4 years ago! I think pre-qualifying did a good job of giving the category a kick in the pants, maybe they should bring it back.

In 01 the TWR Australia Commodores 15 & 51 were entered under the Romano franchise and the Romano HYL car was entered as a 3rd car under the HRT franchise when such practice was allowed.

The Forbes franchise was sold to the now HSVDT team midway through 03 after 00 Motorsport ceased racing. In 01 Gibson Motorsport only ran one car. The Gibson franchise was sold to John Briggs (now 888) at the end of 01 when Fred left the 00 operation for the 2 Betta Falcons to race under.

Also just quickly as a point of interest, the Formula entry list for that same round included the likes of Greg Ritter, Alex Davison, Steve Owen, Marcus Marshall, Will Power, Christian Murchison, Owen Kelly, the late Stewart McColl and Leanne Tander (nee Ferrier)

Pole and both races were won by McColl, with Ritter and Davison snapping at his heels.

Simon Wills dominated in the Birrana (efectively Team Dynamik) Reynard 94D.

And Jimmy Richards was in the thick of things in the GT Series.
