Successor to the Camaro after it is gone?
2024 Chevrolet Chevelle looks pretty cool.
Is this the next oprion for supercars? Not made by GM, it is produced by Trans Am Worldwide ... hey but never let a small issue like that stop progress. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nn-aIGnFoIU |

Why isn't Nissan Z already the second model of car?! It would make a lot more sense.
The Supercars-funded second car, as a turbocharged vehicle with a shorter wheelbase, would show the diversity in the category -- and additional manufacturer cars be they Chevrolets or Cadillacs or BMWs or Genesis could then follow the Mustang and Z if the commercial package reaches a viable point. |

Modern Chevette? Aka Gemini for y'all upside-downers
Cause what else do they have or are they going to NASCAR and just keep allowing the Camaro to live on and on and on |

Gen4 should be something like this!
Market wise it makes more sense to race these cars instead of Camaro and Mustang. It would make Supercars stand out again compared to other series. |

Or just allow any manufacturer other than Ford or GM. I think that might make it a lot better.

The current rules effectively prohibit entries and if they can't get two different drivelines to be equal how would they go if multiple manufacturers showed interest wanting to use their own drivelines? The concept as it now stands has most probably got a short life as the current two manufacturers are only there by default. All this has been discussed previously multiple times and the present archaic regulations just about prohibit anyone else from entering, this cannot be repeated enough times but no one seems to be listening. |

The lack of comment in this thread shows how much interest there is in the future of Supercars which is very sad but utterly predictable. You can only flog a dead horse so much before reality sets in unfortunately.

I was thinking more perhaps that it is easier to be critical of what someone has already done than create it yourself…

As a an old ATCC watcher, who is interested (still) in cars, the good racing pales when there is little technical of interest. They are just overgrown Aussie Race Cars, and I can relate to them more than the SCs because they are attainable if I want one.

The regulators either stick with it and push on regardless, or if there is change and if it needs to remain touring car/sedan based apply to.SRO to take the GT3 format and have sedan/coupe shells only. That way you already have Mustang and could have any number of other mainstream makes come in using their existing platforns. I.E.Honda could run an Accord shell on the NSX, Merc could run a C or E Class on the AMG chassis etc etc.

GT3 is not a good idea and DTM is an example of that. Yes, DTM survived thanks to that and it's still enjoyable (for me at least) but GT3 as a concept is not very well suited for professional racing. Supercars' strength also lies in cars being really unique, there's no other championship in the world that races such cars. DTM's example also shows that a struggle begins when it comes to rivalry with other championships (like ADAC GT Masters and even GTWC). If Supercars adopted GT3 rules, there'd instantly be some sort of competition with Australian GT + many people would say it's no longer Supercars, just "another GT3 championship." Honestly, there's not a single reason why Supercars would adopt GT3. Yes, I know, would be nice to have more manufacturers in Supercars but think we have to accept it's unlikely to ever happen. So I still prefer having two models on the grid in Supercars than watch many different GT3 cars.
