Mazzacane and Alonso to drive for Minardi? December 20: An Argentinean newspaper reports that Mazzacane will drive for Minardi in 2001 alongside Fernando Alonso. The piece, which quotes an unnamed source, claims that both drivers will front the Italian team’s 2001 campaign, and adds that Minardi bosses have also secured a Supertec engine deal, as a result of a buy-out by French company Mecachrome. The article increases speculation that an announcement from Minardi bosses is imminent. Gaston Mazzacane has already pledged his desire to stay with the team for another season, and was recently refused a scheduled Arrows test as a result of negotiations with other teams. **************** HURRAH!!!
