Gerd Ruch got a Mercedes??

So Gerd Ruch was finally able to move from his DTM Mustang to a DTM MB C-Class in '95?

Yes, they ran a single-car effort with a Merc C-Class in 95-I think it was Ruch's last year in the DTM- he moved onto GTs after that- I remember him driving a McLaren F1 early in the 1997 season (for MVR-a German team who started the year with a 1995/6-spec Mac & then moved onto a Lotus GT1), and also a Porsche GT2 (Roock Racing comes to mind?)around 1998/9

Why did he leave? Didn't the DTM last until '97? I'm suprised he didn't stay with the DTM. He was always the underdog. That was kinda cool.

So how did he get his ride? Did he buy the car? Or did MB finally draft him in as a Junior DTM driver?

I wonder what became of his Mustangs? They're definitely a big part of DTM and even Mustang history.

DTM stopped in 95 and became the ITC. He wasn't as competitive in the C Class.

So I guess Gerd just didn't have a big enough budget to travel around Europe like the rest of the ITC teams.

It's too bad the ITC never took off. OTOH, I really thought ST could have taken over the motorsport world! It was becoming like F2000-there's a national series almost everywhere!

What if the ST took hold in NA? Could we have kept ST around for longer? Sighh...

As far as I can remember it was a small family-run team, vague memories of his brother being involved in it too.

Gerd and his brother Jurgen Ruch had a team called Buffalo Boots.

Best name for a racing team I've heard in a while

Can't remember where I read about the team, which is a bit annoying, but I've found this pic of the C-Class on a team autograph card from the year.
