It gets the 'I stayed awake' bonus point and there was a bit of action here and there but ultimately it was just too easy for Ferrari and Mercedes - 6.

I didn't fall asleep, but mostly because I was curious what happens with all those SC's. I gave it a 4.

I thought it was quite exciting at the end even though only 4 cars were involved.

Not the most scintillating race and definitely helped by successive SCs and only came alive in the last 10 laps. 5.

Enjoyed it but hardly the exciting race it was billed as but SC's and last few laps helped gave it a 5

I feared for much worse after watching the F2 feature race but the GP had some entertainment.
The pace of the top 4 cars with DRS meant lesser cars didn't even try to defend. Vettel on Bottas was tidy though. 5. |

4.
You'd think a charge through the field would be more exciting, but the performance difference between the top 2 teams and the rest of the field was just so big that passing became just a formality, but then there also was the DRS to really drive the message home that passing had become absolutely farcical. Very depressing and frustrating to watch. |

I'm now convinced that it has become impossible to please the people who post in this column.
That was a great grand prix! Please go watch NASCAR or VASC or formula V or something. F1 will be destroyed if it is treated to this automatic negative reaction by posters on what is supposed to be an enthusiasts forum. |

The results of this poll and responses are fascinating to me because I really, really enjoyed this race. Y'all are correct that most passing was DRS based, but there was quite a bit of moving around.
...nevertheless, I'm happy! |

I'm with the majority on 8. The safety car gave Lewis more compensation for the Kimi-assault than the stewards did, which set up a thrilling last 10 laps. Perhaps grand prix should be run over 10 laps in future, using secondhand tyres.

couldn't be bothered to give it more than a 5. The difference between the top 2 and the rest was too big here, and the safetycars didn't help in my opinion.

Well, I gave it a ten because:
1. The weather was epic 2. The race itself was really good 3. It's a humungous event and the atmosphere was amazing 4. I got to stand at the start of the entry to pit lane with the cars entering at full racing speed, changing *up* as they passed at something like 150mph only 6 feet away from me. As an aside, of all the cars this weekend it was the Ferraris that felt like they created the biggest 'hole in the air'. Each time they pitted they made the legs on my overalls flap |

That is by far the best reason I have read on here this season for (in part) a justification for a rating. I salute you sir for your originality - plus of course your endeavours on the day!

Not the best this season. Only came alive after the two safety car periods. I'll give it a six.

I gave it an 8. I thoroughly enjoyed the race although I admit I was forced to miss a chunk of laps after the first half a dozen or so to not long before the first SC.

It was a very long, very hard weekend in terms of the heat. I nearly flaked out on Friday as I just couldn't get cool and the rest of the team on my post (Vale) were similarly struggling. Luckily we had the Paddock Club Drivers Lounge behind us, and in a fortunate piece of timing the hostesses started handing out ice lollies mid afternoon. We sent one of the guys up the bank to try to blag some and he came back with one for each of us, which perked us up no end! Despite it being hot, the event itself is something to behold. The place was rammed sideways, the atmosphere amazing, and I got to spend the weekend with some old and some new colleagues and friends doing something we all spend the year doing alone, in the cold, in the pouring rain with nobody within 250 metres. To see Silverstone jumping like it was on Sunday afternoon makes all the cold dark days worthwhile Only another year to wait for the next one (although there may be a French excursion preceding it next year)! |

As Oldtony said, please go watch something other than F1 if you thought that race was dull. Also seek some help with your mental health/depression issues. The negativity on this forum is truly astonishing. A big 8 from me. |
