The Houston GP Site Is Up

Just saw this in the ALMS Forum, and thought I would share it with fellow Champ Car fans over here...

www.grandprixofhouston.com

NOTE: I'm a little disappointed in the circuit design overall....

I like the big sweeping curve around the Astrodome, but I felt that they could've used a little more imagination in the overall circuit design...especially since the venue is a rather large and open complex....

The website seems kinda nice, though....

The circuit looks pretty good to me. The corner around the Astrodome could really compromise a setup. I don't really think you can get a complete picture until the whole thing is setup though. Some many variables like width and track surface to take into account.
The website looks good to. Lots of eye-candy.

Looks like a good track, I guess they haven't lost their knack for track design after all....

San Jose, just a blip.......this is much more like it!

Looks pretty good to me. I don't like turn three at all - that will end up a total mess.

The run from the start line to turn two should be good, as will the long turn four.

I also think the last combination of turns - 8, 9 & 10 - will be quite interesting too.

Shame there are only two right-handers.

Um, u guys notice that all of this great racing will occur under lights at night i think thats real tight, a night street race very unique for both series. But i do wish the track was lengthier, good design thought

Looks pretty interesting, especially if they leave "turn" 1 alone and doesn't mess it up with a chicane or anything like that.

I really don'tlike that 30-degree or so turn at all for Champ Cars.

More info....requires free registration.......but it says cars will go from 185 down to FIFTEEN mph on the course.

Ho-hum, well if the run-up to the corner and the corner itself in question is wide enough it should offer a nice passing opportunity.

If the drivers are able to get a good slipstream, that is.

If it's wide enough and has no surface problems, I don't see why there shouldn't be good racing.

That Turn 3 will be a real doozy! But if the cars can't slow down in time, then they'll have to add a chicane after Turn 2.

The layout is ok, but nothing to get excited about. The long sweeper is unique though. However, the run from turn 2 to turn 3 might be too short to offer good overtaking.

I totally disagree Tim. On the home page it says Champcar Racing Returns to Houston in bold letters, while the American LeMans Series is only mentioned in small print in the body of paragraph on the home page. All you see are champcar images on the home page. Not to mention, the Houston Grand Prix logo only features a champcar. Co-billing? I think not...

The only thing I noticed on the site's home page was the ever-changing photos of the grid girls....

They were kinda nice....

Some excerpts:

"The headline event features the most unique venue in open wheel racing… the Champ Car series on Saturday NIGHT!"

"Never before have two world class races like Champ Car and American Le Mans raced together on the SAME weekend."

Been there, done that...

Why let the facts get in the way of some good, old-fashioned propaganda????
