First of all call it a Ford Taunus instead of a Ford Cortina before you continue your search for info. It was build in the late 1970s and early 1980s till it was replaced by the Ford Sierra from 1982 on.

Actually this particular car is the one I was interested in and it is only badged a Ford Taunus S for local need, as I said the actual car is built on a South African Ford Cortina XR6 body shell, allowing them to use the 5 linked rear suspension fitted to it rather than the european system.
Sorry for the confusion it's this ACTUAL car K:LM 124 I am interested in. Last edited by yorkie_racer; 11 Nov 2007 at 19:01. |

Is it possible to read the two names on the door? Do they read Michael Werner and Egon Meurer? They used to drive a Works Group 1b Ford Taunus with a 3.0S engine in the German Rally Championship of 1981/1982. The car was dubbed "Rallyetaxi". Possibly turbocharged with 246bhp…

>>>Works Ford rally cars that came from Germany stayed the exception, were confined to models as the Capri RS2600 and 20M RS. These would carry a German Köln plate, that therefore would display a K in front of the dash. Maybe as an example we use the most unusual car Ford Köln had, an African market German shell but V8 engined Ford Cortina Mk4 (Taunus), used by Michael Werner in Germany in the early 1980s: "K-LM 124".<<<

A story about Michael Werner with a pic of the K-LM 124 find here: http://www.dunlop.de/de/daten/motors...er_michael.pdf
It seems that the car is still "alive" and can be found with Siegfried Raab in the Bavarian town of Bayreuth nowadays: "Einen dritten Platz 'erarbeiteten' sich Siegfried Raab und Jürgen Becker (beide Bayreuth) vom MSC Bayreuth mit ihrem Ex-Michael Werner Ford Taunus, […]" Found here: http://www.rallye200-info.de/03/bind...lachpresse.htm |
