Shipping race car from US to UK
Anyone know any shippping agents that can move a single seater in rolling chassis form from east coast USA to somewhere in southern England. The few agents I have called so far seem to loose interest when I mention its a racing car...

I'll PM you for your e-mail address -- my brother did that last year for Goodwood Revival and it worked out well. I assume you will want to containerize it?

All sorted - Allen Shores was definately the man - they managed to find a shared container with two other cars (both hot rods) from a port 2hrs drive from my seller. Takes 2 weeks at sea and 1 week of customs etc ... price was less than £1000 for shipping/handling etc which I thought was pretty good and the service (ie they called back when they said they would etc etc) was first class. I understand why others recommended so highly - as would I. New toy arrives end of Jan.
Tkx again. |

I used Kingstown in the real world of work and they were good for either importing or exporting. Allan is a top bloke.

Update: For anyone thinking of bringing a car over from the states - all i can say is it was much much less hassle than expected. Allan at Kingsdown handled the whole process effortlessly - my car was ready to collect within 24hrs of landing - they argued the toss with customs about the origin of the car (saving me £500 of duty) and really went the extra mile. The amount of people bringing muscle cars/campers/motor bikes into the country was a eye opener...
Can thoroughly recommend them - and will use for my next purchase. |

Its an old FF1600 Reynard that I have bought to have a bit of fun in and recapture my youth... I had tested for the factory Fulmar team in early 91 - before missing out on the drive - and always to have a go in one in the dry. A 20yr gap wasn't exactly what I was thinking of - but the new Pre-90 FF series has tempted me back out again.
I will post some pics once the restoration is under way....but anyone who fancies getting their hands dirty near Kimbolton - give me a shout!!! |
